Here's a preview on how it would look with complete covering. Should I make a decent version like that?
I prefer version 1.0 :P
On medium, heavy and super heavy models It'll look more armored.

Edit: it seems like I forgot to attach the file :stressed:

IMHO The problem with letting the caterpillar uncovered, is the animation... I really like your version... it looks great, but maybe it would be better and more realistic to cover the caterpillar...
Maybe I should remove my location o_O

Animation is possible isn't it? Like cyborg ones. I would need help from someone experienced enough to make those animations, though.

Someone up to the challenge of helping me with that? :D

If someone can make an animation... then I'll stay with the partially covered caterpillar xD
But what about half-track? it'll be partially covered too?

Anyway.. Great Job. It's awesome! ;)

:P Actually, that's just for larger circles. Octagons might be enough for wheels.

I meant to make them separate, instead of connected by a large block. That way, they look more different from tracks.

i.e.

@Zarel - Yeah, I'll make wheels separated or connected by a flat vertical element, if I cannot make them look good separated. For half tracks, I've already made a model - Starting the texture right now - But the partial protection of the tracks extend to the wheel. I'll make a version with it separated, without protection, later.

@Sekmeton - Wheels for medium bodies will look like that but with a smaller front wheel, and more evident. Wheels for heavy bodies will look like that, and more evident also.

Will post the small half tracks I've done as soon as I've finished it.

Okay, here's Small Half Tracks v1.0 :ninja:
Should I make a version with no armor over the wheels? :rolleyes:

It looks a bit too much like the tracks. So yes.

for tracks, with full armor looks best. for half tracks, leave the full armor on tracks, an remove the armor on wheels.

And the devs definitely need to fix that coloring thing, otherwise no-one will know which ones are their units... lol.

My vote goes to fully covered tracks. For what it's worth :)

tracks ->
the tracks itself are going downwards the last half. perhaps it would see good, if the backside of the track-armor is removed, and the second half of the topside armor will go downwards, like the track itself?

half-tracks ->
front wheels for steering. hmmm
for me it's less a problem with the armor-covering.
on the first sight, i can't see directly differences between wheels and tracks O_o

but unfortunately i don't have any clue how to make it look more different..

just bumped in, i'm really busy atm

wow stunning gfx! O_O keep up the good work, seems that you couldn't give up creating 3d models, fine :)

as for the downside faces.. i would say the bodies should have them, because of using them as vtols

Those are good ideas, I'll try to them like that, later today.
About the difference between the wheel and track textures, I think they will look similar unless I simulate completely different materials :P
When I take out the armor covering from the wheels, they should look more different (the current main differences are covered by the armor, anyway xD )

Hmm, for half-tracks, it seems I didn't go the right way, I couldn't have good ideas yesterday. But I'll try to make them using the new suggestions, ad then I thing they'll look good!

'Té mais ;)
