Re: lack of testing and working on new stuff?
On the subject matter, why work on new things when there are tons of bugs that should be fixed before more features are made? Because I/we can. It is as simple as that. Overall, when someone contributes their time to the project, the project benefits. Now -- unfortunately -- it is not possible to d...

Re: Host ability to limit artillery
I have never been completely comfortable with the limits screen. It seems as if most players use it in order to work-out failures on our part to ensure that the game is fair and balanced. Now, while I am all for customisability of the game (it is open source after all), I am also for a consistent fe...

Re: Does 2.3 actually run on mac tiger
If the newest version that runs is 2.0.5 then it is not a Tiger issue. Back when 2.0.5 was release (before I was the Mac maintainer) I was running an iBook G4 with Tiger. Indeed I can assure you 2.0.7 runs on Tiger. I kept that laptop until July 08 and hence you can be sure that every reason of Warz...

Re: High image resolution on forums.
So zarel,i think you need create limits like on logo.,about 100kb.And 800x600 maximum resolution. No, we are not going to limit things. Users are free to use whatever images they want. Although, if they chose to upload screen shots 1.2 MiB PNGs as opposed to ~240KiB 80% compressed JPEGs they are ca...

Re: Contribution feedback system
Hi all, As this topic is quite meaty it is probably better if I respond to general points as opposed to posts. Firstly, the claim that the system is elitist. Indeed it is. However, how is this a bad thing? By making the review process selective it not only gives people something to aspire to but als...

Diorama random map generator, Windows version
[Previous title: You Can't Always Get What You Want...] But, if you try sometimes you might find, you get what you need. Anyway I have spent the last couple of hours in my Windows XP VM getting Diorama working. Four G 'n' T's later I have a working build of Diorama (wmt-1.1.1) on Windows. The archiv...

Stored Templates
Hi all, As some of you may already know, now that my exams have finished I am allocating one day a week to working on Warzone. To this end, over the past day or so, I have been working on adding support for stored templates . Stored templates are a solution to a common problem: that of having to con...

Re: Retaining experience upon death
I do not think that all units should retain their experience after death -- that is what recycling is for. However, I do think that commanders should retain their experience after death. This would make them significantly more useful (all units assigned to a commander with a lower experience than it...

Tower Defence
Hi all, As some of you may be aware a few months back I promised to spend one day a week working on Warzone after my exams finished. As my exams have now finished (with the last being on Friday the 11th) I am contemplating what to do. One of the game types I miss in Warzone is one called tower defen...

Re: Compiling Warzone 1.10
Try checking out an early SVN revision of this project. We have gone to great lengths to preserve the history of the code over the past five or so years. It is likely that several of the early commits (pre-Linux support) deal with getting the game to compile. The detailed change-sets will allow you ...

Re: A Map Editor
After using .NET for two years (desktop applications and for PDA too) I can say that's not worth using. There are big flaws like for example locale dependent reading of floating numbers from files (in some locales instead of dot char is used comma, in one locale it will cause to lose part after it ...

Re: A Map Editor
Hi all, I have no idea why there is talk of porting it to Mac/Linux when it is written using .Net and OpenTK. A few weeks back a friend of mine was working on a program to simulate video feedback in .Net and wanted my advice on a few things. The program was written in C# + WinForms + OpenTK. It work...
