Hover Bombard problem

Post by Pangaea »

I'm a new player to Warzone, and have been following the walkthrough guide to learn how to play the game. Just recently I played the Alpha 12 mission. I did manage to finish it, just in time, but I took some casualties due to the Hover Bombard not working properly. I therefore had to go around with my MBG and attack everything. For some reason units didn't go back and repair even though I had it set, and it sometimes reset too, so it was stuck on "Do or Die" (after repairing perhaps?)

But I digress. What I wondered was if I did something wrong with the Hover Bombarders. I did as mentioned in the guide, ordered Hover Bombarders, and then assigned them to a Hover Sensor. Then moved the Sensor closer to enemy buildings, hoping the Bombarders would kick into gear. But for some reason they did not. The range was really low. I pretty much had to manually assign targets for them to shoot at anything, and then they were well within range of just about any kind of structure. So they naturally died quickly, if they didn't skidaddle off to the repair bay in time.

Artillery have worked flawlessly so far. Do the Hover Bombarders not work as they should?
I am playing on Windows, downloaded the latest stable version (2.2.4), and am using the 'normal' link to start the game (not Original, or any of the mods).

I am also wondering about the Commander and experience. According to this table the Commander should be Special when he gets 512 kills. But my commander is lagging behind one level. By the end of Alpha 12 he had almost a 1000 kills, but he was still 'only' Elite. Has this been changed in the game and the table not updated, or is something else wrong?

Btw: I think it would be great if we got up the type of a building when we click on it, like we do with units. There are so many different units and structures in the game, that it's difficult to tell them apart just by the look - especially for new players like myself. I usually have to click on a unit to tell what kind it is. But this is not possible with structures. Would be great if that was changed :)

Also the time counter and the Transport loading info gets in the way of the unit info when we click on units, so I have to click on a few different ones so I get more lines to be able to tell what is actually stated in the info. Hope that made sense. It was a bit convoluted.

Great game though! It's keeping me busy ;)

In 2.2.4, sensor tanks do not automatically target enemies - you must manually assign targets. If you wish for auto-sensor-detection, please upgrade to 2.3.

Other way around. The table was updated in anticipation of 2.3 RC1, which was cancelled due to last-minute problems.

Shouldn't be too hard to do. I'll look into it.

Pressing ` also works. You're probably playing at too low of a screen resolution if the time counter is getting in the way, though - try increasing resolution?

I'll update to 2.3 beta 11 then. Just before writing this I tried again, and it was the same. Attached them to the Sonar, but nothing happens. If I click from the sonar to a target it goes really close and gets taken out. This worked much better with sonar towers. I'll give 2.3 a go tho

Okay. So when I update to 2.3 the table will be correct, right? Doesn't really matter much I guess, but I just wondered what the anomaly was.

That would be splendid :)

Hmm, I doubt that. I'm playing on 1920x1080. But perhaps the 'odd' resolution messes up with the layout? Guess it was made with 1024x800 in mind, or the same ratio at least.

I'll try to find that key though. It's a little bit different since I don't have an English keyboard, but it should be close to Enter.

Thanks for the quick answers. I'll update to 2.3 and hope it works better there :)
