If they're doing that, the tile in question isn't set as 'cliff face'. Open your map up in the editor and fix it. :P

If you are in Flame, try the cliff painter with a huge radius and adjust the angle that fit the most with you.

there is a set of instructions where you grabbed the flame map maker... as well as scroll down a bit to find the small set of what does what. :3

you need to paint it over the edges of your cliffs. Also, some tiles don't like being turned into cliffs, so check that. What tileset you using? Arizona, Rockies, Urban?

Uploading the current non-working map could help, since somebody could check it and see what's wrong with it.

Ohh. Not every terrain supports painting cliffs on it. On rockies, you can only paint cliffs over gravel, snow or gravel snow. Just observe the set of tiles available.

Is it true that if you want a non-standard cliff tile you can just paint over the red cliff faces (heard this, but never tested)?
This is why some features aren't implemented: http://forums.wz2100.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=7490&view=unread#p87241

Err, what do you mean? Noone forbids to place the cliff tiles manually. Brushes are convenient, but they don't really have any special meaning.
