Re: Including documentation WITH Warzone
Just added a file up top - a more revamped version of the single-HTML guide. Open introduction.htm and read through.

I do not see a poll but I would vote no because
1) screenshots should be better.
2) Tech Tree should be included.

1: Well, we all think they should be better
2: http://guide.wz2100.net/r/tech-tree - you tell me how we fit it in there

I'm going to rephrase 1) Graphics need or have to be better. I can hardly make head or tails out of some of them and I'm an experienced player.BlueMaxima wrote:1: Well, we all think they should be better

2) You asked for opinions and thats what your got, an opinion. I cannot tell you how to make it fit if you have size restraints. I can download the web pages and thought you could do the same and include it withn your documentation. If that is not doable for you then at least provide the link to the tech tree which I did not see in your documentation.

1: Fair enough. Can you tell me which ones were giving you the most problems? (I expect the Design images to be thereBunkerBlaster wrote:I'm going to rephrase 1) Graphics need or have to be better. EDIT: Waitasec...where IS the poll?

Come on!BlueMaxima wrote: EDIT: Waitasec...where IS the poll?
There's already enough poll here:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5142&start=0
so you don't need to make any more polls, okay?
BTW, I think that providing this documentation with the game would be only advantageous. It is decent as it is - even though I'd go for a PDF version with some minor, not quite *necessary*, aesthetical changes. I can't describe those last since I didn't spend too much time thinking about what kind of detail I'd add, but that's really not a must

Thanks for your opinion. The reason I went with HTML is that it can be read in any operating system out of the box, since all OS's come with a web browser pre-installed. Not everybody has a PDF reader, lousy AdobeOlrox wrote:It is decent as it is - even though I'd go for a PDF version with some minor, not quite *necessary*, aesthetical changes.

Portable Document Format - originally developed by Adobe, has been an open standard since 2008. PDF viewers are available from a number of source besides Adobe and come with most Linux distros. Not everybody has a PDF reader, lousy Adobe

Fresh installs of Windows don't come with it.

But you can find a version of Adobe Reader on almost any software/game disc. And here is Foxit reade that is really lightweighted and fast, so anyone can download it even with slowest internet connection.

Re: Including documentation WITH Warzone
I'm not sure which one to use as the guide's format. Both have their own ups and downs, I just can't pick. I don't want to have to update both a PDF and HTML version either, it would just be redundant.

HTML is more interactive. You can't do this with PDF: http://guide.wz2100.net/interface
As I've also said numerous times, HTML is more suited for screen media, and HTML viewers are optimized to make it look the best on-screen. PDF viewers are often more about fidelity - "this is how it'll look when it's printed out" - fairly irrelevant for things that are rarely printed out - and HTML usually does decently printed, anyway (the Guide stylesheets are in fact optimized for that).

This still leaves a fine split down the middle Zarel - who will print and who will not.

Re: Including documentation WITH Warzone
You can always generate PDF version from HTML one.
But anyway, HTML is best choice, because even if you don't have browser you can always read it in text editor (or at least kind of viewer, even cat command would be enough).

Well the logo (image001.png), all of design, and all the ones smaller than a thumbnail.BlueMaxima wrote: 1: Fair enough. Can you tell me which ones were giving you the most problems? (I expect the Design images to be there)

I see a link to online guide, not to the tech tree itself.
Also it would be nice if it opened with Windows built in Zip instead of having to use 7zip.
