Including documentation WITH Warzone
Well, everyone new that ventures into the black hole that is Warzone gameplay around here may or may not have read my Basics guide (http://guide.wz2100.net/basics)
I've (not EXACTLY recently) developed a HTML version of the guide that I plan to have included along with Warzone itself. You can see it here:
Considering the dev ticket has been sitting idle for several months now, I thought it would help if I got public opinion.
Vote in the poll and post your regards!

At the very least, it needs better screenshots.

Re: Including documentation WITH Warzone
A second idea struck me today: Instead of an external HTML file, why not, in Warzone itself, have a series of credits-style images explaining the major parts of the game as basic documentation, then say 'Go to wz2100.net' for more details' or something?

I think HTML is better.BlueMaxima wrote:A second idea struck me today: Instead of an external HTML file, why not, in Warzone itself, have a series of credits-style images explaining the major parts of the game as basic documentation, then say 'Go to wz2100.net' for more details' or something?

Well... In case of using Qt for betawidget we can have both solutions available (WebKit renderer built in).KukY wrote:I think HTML is better.BlueMaxima wrote:A second idea struck me today: Instead of an external HTML file, why not, in Warzone itself, have a series of credits-style images explaining the major parts of the game as basic documentation, then say 'Go to wz2100.net' for more details' or something?

My Impression
Well I certainly wouldn't call that a "Quick Start Guide" because it really does have a ton of information, it seems to cover everything. I like that it has images for most of the options and features you're explaining, and the explanations themselves are clear (although i've only skimmed through the guide) Only problem is that there could of been better choices with some of the images, especially the first one (no, not the WZ logo lol) and also, the overall presentation isn't very polished or professional looking enough to be released with the game.
Otherwise, it's good, it just needs some fixing up. I'll be going through it some more after I go get some sleep since it looks helpful. Also, after taking into consideration, Zarel's work, especially on this site, he won't want to publish anything that isn't up to that kind of professional standard :p

mod_desolator: It is quite hard to make a single HTML page look good
Not to mention I took the screenshots in the 2.2 days when the textures were crap for some reason.
And Zarel doesn't like me
PS: I just realised what image you were talking about - that image was taken by Zarel

Re: Including documentation WITH Warzone
It's mostly the Design/Build/Research/etc sections that haven't been vetted for minimal quality. The other stuff is, iirc, mostly up to standard.
And if you're talking about this image - http://guide.wz2100.net/interface - what's wrong with it?

Re: Including documentation WITH Warzone
You got some units jumbled up in one corner, the player's base is nothing but a few random walls and the terrain could of been better, instead of that plain flat ground with some craters lol but i suppose i'm just picky. The info is what's important.
And BlueMaxima, here I was giving you credit for the content of the Guide you have, when all the info was already on the site done by Zarel! Anywayz, make a table and put the info inside a border, and a header like on this site would work too. I should really study up on doing those things too.

Re: Including documentation WITH Warzone
Des, Zarel only took a couple of screenshots, I wrote the rest of it
Well, there's no point on making a header unless I wanted it as multiple webpages, which might actually be better considering the situation. I could always try that. Hmm...

Hey, I took one screenshot. All the manufacture/build/research/transports screenshots are yours, and somewhat in need of overhaul. <_<

Maybe later, Zarel. Right now, they do their job fine.
