Animate transport engines
Currently transport engines(?) are not animated and it looks bad (especially that in videos they are moving
). Is it possible to add rotation animation for them?

Re: Animate transport engines
AFAIK, event-triggered animations aren't implemented yet, we'll have to wait for that, but then, we can have other nice animations like opening factory doors, cycling tank tracks and such.Emdek wrote:Currently transport engines(?) are not animated and it looks bad (especially that in videos they are moving). I guess if you use TCmask in trunk, you could use frame animation as well. In 2.3, there is no way, since you have to choose one or the other.
@Olrox: It could be a permanently cycling animation,no?

Nice, but I don't know how to do that.Per wrote:I guess if you use TCmask in trunk, you could use frame animation as well. In 2.3, there is no way, since you have to choose one or the other.
For me it's good, transports are nearly always over land.Per wrote:It could be a permanently cycling animation,no?
But by the way, VTOL propulsion has probably something similar, four and smaller, right?

Drop the "nearly". Transports are always in the air, so their turbines would be permanently rotating.

Re: Animate transport engines
Yeah, I was thinking that, but in theory it should touch the land for a moment during unload (yes I know, in game units just shows under transport). Maybe it could be changed to make unload to take some seconds (for example each unit unloaded after one or two seconds) but make transporting time a bit shorter? Just random thought.Zarel wrote:Drop the "nearly". Transports are always in the air, so their turbines would be permanently rotating.

Re: Animate transport engines
It would look lame if the hovering fan rotation speed is the same as the airlifting and travelling speed, but they would definetely be rotating permanently.Per wrote: @Olrox: It could be a permanently cycling animation,no?
I'm not into doing this, anyway

It's better to have constant speed than no rotation at all.Olrox wrote:It would look lame if the hovering fan rotation speed is the same as the airlifting and travelling speed, but they would definetely be rotating permanently.Per wrote: @Olrox: It could be a permanently cycling animation,no?

Come on, I'm trying to keep up my good moodEmdek wrote: One offtopic per day is enough for me.
I'm glad to explain if you didn't understand it:
"Certainly, having a lame solution is better than sticking with a problem that you can't solve in another way, even though you don't like that solution the best" serves as a translation for my metaphora. Does the act of speaking metaphorically caracterize a deviation of subject? Perhaps it makes it a bit harder to understand, but I think this one was easy and was a interpretation about the situation presented by the topic, but rather figuratively than literally, just for the pun 'n' lols
Sorry if that offended you. I'll act more seriously on the topics you're participating, then.

Sure, but we, in Poland, are not in good mood right now...Olrox wrote:Come on, I'm trying to keep up my good moodEmdek wrote: One offtopic per day is enough for me.
I know what you meant, but I think that it would be improvement anyway, and could be later expanded (if can't be done already) to cover that. It's a bit like that part with unloading, in practice all units couldn't be safely unloaded at once, but this kind of simplification doesn't make a big problem (but lack of rotation is visible glitch).

Living kills slowly. Seriousness at all times makes it a little bit faster. Knowing when to be serious and when to be funny slows down the proccess.Emdek wrote: No problem, seriousness kills slowly.
Anyway, as Per mentioned, you can use frame animation, for trunk versions, for now (while there's no event-triggered animation). This will generate only continuous rotation, though. Now the question is who's gonna make that, if someone will. I guess that I don't have anything else to say here, in this stage

Re: Animate transport engines
If you work out how to animate the texture, It would be good to use this on Factory fans etc.
As for transport engine helicopters land with rotor speed not dropping change the pitch and off they go again.
Having animation is start point to maybe having models with 2 texture pages one animated one not?
Just a thought the baseplates for some structures can use different textures depending on map they are on.
I might be off track but all ideas have to start some place.

Good catch, maybe there is even more details like these.Berg wrote:If you work out how to animate the texture, It would be good to use this on Factory fans etc.
