4c-Castle, My first map

Post by milo christiansen »

This is a simple 4 player map with narrow bridges running to a small island in the center, all fighting will be ether on cramped causeways or close quarters on the island. Please post any comments.

In general, if you see glowing, pulsating things in the game, you should click on them.

In case you didn't know, you don't need to attach *.fme, flaME can open *.wz files.

About your map, it looks boring, but layout is interesting.
I need to try it.

I know, But if I have it why not attach it.

It is a little boring but the causeways make battles interesting as only a few of your units can fire at once. It is a first try after all :) .

Reducing size of a file you upload somewhere is a noble act.

The .zip is 33k! and that includes a .xcf and 4 .bmp Files.

I tested it;
It has too many those spikes. They look bad. Those narrow passages aren't so narrow.
It has too few oil. It needs more.
Textures; I didn't see them, I accidentaly used my Monochromatic mod. xD

I like low oil maps, and I did add 9 per player for a total of 36.
The textures are pretty Monochromatic without your mod. xD
And I think the spikes look cool, a mater of opinion I guess. :)

Meh, that's not an excuse ¬¬

Anyway, it looks... different =P
That can be very good or very bad. But I won't test it because I don't like purely geometric maps, I won't like it at all if I do play on it.
But the effort of making different maps is always good if you keep making them & learn from previous experiences.

I hope you've used "Set Triangles" while making the map. I see a lot of people ignoring that tool: I, for one, ignore those maps :mad;

But it's great to see that there's a lot of people making maps!

I used auto cliff with the set triangles check box set, so I guess that's a yes ;) .

I made this map mostly to learn how to make a height map, so I never expected it to be a masterpiece.

Well, but if you don't try to make small things in the best way you can, you very likely won't be able to make great, unique things :rolleyes:
