Making Power Generator free

Right now Power Module and Oil Derricks have cost 0.
Should that be made for Power Generator too so you can restore from 0 power?

I think it useless to carry of power gen. modu., derreck costs. Because if player have no money and no p.gens. It means he lost, even if he would restore his economy, he fucked up.

For example: In warcraft3, if you dont have money so you dont have a money to build something, in this case you have to sell something if you want to win, but in any case you cant out of an situations like that.

I recommend to set only oil derreks to 0 power cost.

You get a little bit of power when you destroy your own buildings, right? You can use that to rebuild your power gen, if necessary. Or your allies can give you some power.

I second that, & think that striking the generators is another method to crush the player before the final blow (as striking the factories is, or as striking the research facilities to make them less advanced tech-wise is).
Those structures are what makes the player running, and if he let that be destroyed, the consequences must be great, imo. When you're playing free-for-all games, you wouldn't want the players to last too long, I think. And if you were playing alliances, your ally should help (I think :P )

A good option, however, would be to let the players set the structures cost, from 50% to 150%, along with the structure limits. Even individually, I think it would be great because players could encourage the use of a determined type of unit, or disencourage the use of another.

Also, implementing changeable handicaps (individual power generating rate settings) for players would be great as well, I think. Those kind of things that stay out of the way if you want a simple game, but can be changed for players who know each other and want to even the odds.

I think that would give balance problems...

I think this other one is a good idea.

When you haven`t got a Power Generator you become near your Structures 5 Oil Tons.
That is enought to build a Generator ;)

Power generator shouldn't be free.
Its cost matters even on high power maps, early in the game.

I frequently start with 2 factories, producing more trucks, one power gen, then research fac. By the time the massive research starts I need power generators, which take energy and time to make. If they were free, I could built them a lot faster and already start producing tanks.

Sorry, free power gen speeds up the begining of the high power game. On standard/low power game the cost of the generator makes protecting it the good idea.
It would be pointless to destroy generators if they could be rebuilt free in no time.

Note that "no cost" does not equal "no time".

Which, of course, means that anyone can come in and wreck your generator while it is under construction. Plus, you need a truck to build which means that making power generators free isn't going to help if you have no trucks.

Especially the Void between the ears of people who think that No VTOL is a good idea, and won't lead to arty wars. I've won one, and I have to say: I hated it.

Hmm, you also have to make the HQ free to (for the case the player deletes the truck design :P)

But actually, if you really don't have any free trucks... You can't build free factories or free HQ or free Power Generators...
Ctrl+T spawns disposable free trucks?
(Ok, that was the last one, I swear xD )

What do the devs think of the "Power cost" slider idea? Not good?
The Player handicaps are really interesting for MP games, especially when you know the people you're playing against. Would add new settings to play with when making new Challenges as well.
