Well, Mero, you've shared a bunch of cool stuff over years with me. :) Not to mention the sense of sheer fun you bring to everything you do, and express, that's like a breath of fresh air much appreciated by many here I'm sure. :D Kindred spirits is a good expression for it, I believe, and it gives rise to a natural flow of reciprocity, good humor and graciousness that makes for valued experiences wherever they may arise - here or in RL. :3

Rman you are extremely kind I will dare to say :) Very kind words.

On the other hand I have this strange feeling of feeling strange ;) by that I mean that there may be people who do not like my particular opinions and points of view. And maybe even many.

Will always be folks that don't cotton to ya, Mero. Same for everyone. Just the normal course of life, I think, even though by nature we all much prefer to be liked from the get go. But here, from what I've seen, I do believe the folks that don't cotton to ya are in the minority. :3

As the saying goes...

“You can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

Imho, to try the last, to please all, all of the time, is sheer folly. Even for a cynical, calculating, phony politician. The 2 former will happen all on their own. First and foremost be clear & true to your chosen values, is what I believe the best course :hmm: So while you may be disliked, for whatever, the same folks have to respect your honesty, your authenticity, and that matters. :)

Rman :) yes what you say is obvious I rather ment that some of my beliefs here are far radical or extraordinary which may one day trigger an important person ;)

When in Warzone do as Warzonians do ;) is what I do not follow.

BTW so many great games will be introduced this year :) and movies as well :)

I see. ;)

Warzonians have changed over the years. I'm an old school Warzonian. A few of us still around - original old schoolers and some new comers akin old schoolers. You would have fit in smartly with that old school. There were hundreds active daily. A vast community of over hundred thousand registered members, hundreds upon hundreds of posts daily and approaching a million cummulative posts towards the end. Admin and moderation duties were a pure joy 99% of the time and even that 1% could be turned around to the postive, creative and entertaining. The diversity was staggering along with the sheer numbers. Mad skills in evidence from codeing to international diplomacy to all the art forms to gamers of every genre stripe. We had fun every day and Pumpkin team members easily joined in. Some of it related to WZ proper, some didnot. It didn't matter. It was all good. :D

A couple years ago I was reading an article in Game Informer about the latest Tomb Raider in development. One proposed new GPM stuck out to me. It was said that Lara Croft would be younger than all the previous iterations and that the choices you made and the experiences she had would lead to an evolving character as you played. They made it sound atypical than the standard RPG mechanic. More along the revolutionary lines of what Peter Molineux tried to do in his "Black and White" and "Fable Games". I've not kept up with this project. Have you ? Do you know any more from your experience, perhaps ?

Rman accidentally with this adjusting me into old schoolers you have made one of the best complements here for me ever :3

At the same time I see clearly that you understand me.

I love Tomb Rider series and I have finished all parts except Anniversary, where in the middle I have lost all my saves with hard drive. And I have finished about 10% of Guardian of the Light.

I was playing the first two parts of Tomb Rider on PSX One, when it already looked old and something bad happened to Lara ;)

Here in your post are you speaking about Guardian of the Light or the newest one that is not yet out?

I have a problem here as you know my approach to females :) but my answer is that I would not follow or get involved in something that I was rised on and went so big changes. I will play the newest but we are step by step losing something Rman I think :hmm:

Soon we can have Mario as FPS shoter ;)

My introduction to Tomb Raider was also on the PS 1 with the first release. At the time I was mostly playing TA, WC, SC, Diablo, Myth, Unreal, Syndicate, MOO and Sport Sims. It was really very different, in a good way. Over the years, I've played all but "The Guardian of the Light". Some I liked as well as the first, others not so much.

The new one I'm refering to has been under dev for some 3 years.

So far it's simply called Tomb Raider and it's a complete and intrigueing reboot of the franchise. Supposedly there is even gonna be an MP component and how they are managing that, I don't have a clue.

Here's an interesting hands-on write up I just found from a couple weeks ago outta the UK. Release is scheduled in the next couple months and i'll very like buy it.

Tell me if you feel the same way after reading the hands-on preview. :3

The preview which is described in the article I have seen few months ago.

I liked it, I think it was mainly because Tomb Rider was a game I rised on. But what I remember most of all that first thin I did while watching it, was turning the volume of my 5.1 speakers down as her screaming was so intence and characteristic that I felt embarassed :P It was because I felt I may be acused of watching something violent or on the contrary something like new Laras production ;)

I also remember that scene where she lands with this parachute with hittin a branch. It is so sugesstive that I remember I held my ribs at that time when she hit it. It is indeed very very bloody. I think they missed one step between changing so dramatically, and then cover it all in blood if they have to then. What I will tell you is that for sure buy it and I will play it. It is already on steam for a price that I will never buy it as here we do not have euro yet. But a day will come. I usually take those for 4.99.

Indeed I see this violent tendency but Rman I do not know if something is here wrong with me :hmm: I just love the nevest Batman Trilogy, I have watched Born trilogy few times, and my Wife likes it too :) I think the Batman darkening case was a good step. Also the more adult approach to Bond I like very much, and I have already said that the last three bonds are much better, and Craig is much better than Brosman who always even when performs an action could for me take out wrinkles creme and use it meanwhile in feminine way ;) Also the latest bonds even when we know what we are to expect from such movie with Bond in the title, does not show us unbelievably extraordinary exagerrated actions but more earth like even if still impossible. At least for normal people ;)

What I like is the new approach, I wonder how it will end, but I think ecen in 2100 Lara will alway be bought for all the riddles and jumping. First guardian of the light now this. I still think I am for. Damn I cannot think creally she is hot ;)

You for sure know the Prince of Persia games. I just loved Warrior Within which was cool dark with strong music. But at the same time the on called simply Prince of Persia with Cartoon Graphics from 2009 year I just loved too. I also do not understand how it works as the fans say in thousands that Warrior Within is the best, and the prince with the latest Sands of Times is more and more Barbie like for me ;) I liked it but I needed a claw that was not there.

Am I just realising I am into gore even in Mario Bross 3? Those mushrooms could explode with blood screaming :P

I have not run that preview. What I focused on is that the author had an opportunity to PLAY a build of the game.

While I haven't seen it, I would have reacted the same as you I think, based on your description.

For me it's a matter of the degree of realism portrayed more than the type of realism. As an artist I tend to be more suggestive than ultra graphic because I use techniques to trigger, and enlist, the audience's imagination rather than try to supplant it with my craft. Let me give a quick example. I believe the technique used by Hitchcock in the shower scene in his movie "Psycho" is more enduringly memorable than the whole corpus of slasher flix made in the last 40 years. Basically, less is more.

I also remember that scene where she lands with this parachute with hittin a branch. It is so sugesstive that I remember I held my ribs at that time when she hit it. It is indeed very very bloody. I've heard it's very bloody. Is it gratuitus ? Is it over the top ? Will it be a turn—off for me as such ? I'll have to play it to judge for myself.

I share your perspective on all of the above. :3

Riddles and jumping, yes. But aa big a deal for me as well was total immersion in the variety of fantastic virtual worlds they created for her adventures.

Been an afficionado of Adventure Games since the early 90's.

My latest facination in this genre is Journey

IMHO, as a work of sheer game art it is unrivaled. As a total game experience in this genre, it is magnificent.

Some YouTube vids of the game:

Unfortunately, there is yet no PC version. PS3 game.

Haven't played a Prince game in a decade. Been hooked on Bethessda's "Morrowind" series and Bioware's "Mass Effect" series.

Rman the funny thing is that I did not play it to but! voila! I have seen a spot where a guy was playing it as a original presentation on E3 or something as it is now very popular :) you see people playing the game you want ;)
For me it's a matter of the degree of realism portrayed more than the type of realism. I understand you. I feel things very much too and I am mix of romantic guy with the other Mr hide ;) and Mr I love all female creatures ;) where Mr hide represents what represents and sometimes he scares me hehehe ;) It is true that now we see beautiful elves for example, so beutiful that you see drop of sweat when he fires his bow, and the arrow touches accidentally a leave while hittin horrible monster made of thousands of graphic parts. But at the same time I dare to say games seem to be easier and easier, soon as I stated in one of my threads, and many I assume did not like, we will play a game by pressing WSAD, and F to perform amazingly beutiful cutscenes.
I've heard it's very bloody. Is it gratuitus ? Is it over the top ? Will it be a turn—off for me as such ? I'll have to play it to judge for myself.
It is very suggestive, and well presented. It is not that you see Lara taking her gut, one to make it mole probable to survive ;) from the grass and places bandage made of wolf skin on it just no to blled out, or gut out ;) But it is very suggestive. When she hit that branch cher body performs such movement that I did feel it. It is not Resident Evil or Silent Hill, but now even in Resident Evil horror lovers seem to seek horror in it, as it changed into cool action, and Racoon City was a failure so he very vast catch up with the Resident Evil 6. To sum up after all I think you will play the newest tombrider. Here is the gameplay, at 4:25 is the moment I told you about. And that is the gameplay I am talking about.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFhLS7DmLlc

And it reminded me they are making digital girls prettier and prettier :3

Riddles and jumping, yes. But aa big a deal for me as well was total immersion in the variety of fantastic virtual worlds they created for her adventures.
I remember playing Tomb rider anniversary for over half a year. Because there was no solution on paper, I had no internet, and it was not so popular here too. And I stuck at one riddle. I was so bored that I learned to play with Granade luncher so its missles jumped around ;) while I was stack in that very temple.

Your game look very cool, I like it. But at the same time I know you wanted to make me sad I do not have Playstation three Roman I know ;) I think the game you have shwoed me has cool atmosphere. I wanted to find about 30 seconds trailer of Tomb Rider Underword that showed esence of the game, but I cannot find it, yes I admit ;)

I have fini9shed Mass Effect 2 without the first Part. But I still love it :)

Look below here is Prince of Persia Warrior Within. From the trailer you should see at least part of the style of the game, it is dark, and with a good metal music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjLVSnPskSU

Now look at prince of persia cartoon like whitch I love too. And he cooperates with Malika, his Female friend who follows with him step by step, and both have funny and flirting texts :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7tA-6mlbNY because it was made cartoon like.

And finally the newest Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands. Look at the tendency. Both The Forgotten Sands and Two Thrones which was made after The Warrior Within go into Barbie way as I stated it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KKj9hJIofw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmMwCu7scHo

Look at the first comment below.

"prince of persia? more like the kid of persia,

everythin else looks kickass other than his face"

Of course I have finished all those games except the cartoon one, I lost the saves but I will play it back :)

Thanks Mero for that awesome E3 preview link of "Tomb Raider: The Final Hours". March 5th release. Pre-ordered. Gotta have it.:D

Bringing up "Resident Evil" and "Silent Hill" reminded me of my "Dr. Hyde" side. ;) Fan of both for sure. And my new facination in that genre the last couple years is the AMC cable show (and original comic book series, upon which the show is based on) "The Walking Dead" .… AND, now, the extraordinary game based on the show:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007WW ... ttom_links

Best Zombie work since the original creator of the genre, George Romero, some 40 plus years ago, imho. :3

I'll check out the Prince games more closely using the links you posted to get started. Thanks for that. :)

Ops I went out of sync a little, this week is sort of hell for me. Also the weather is terrible. A lot of snow has fallen melting a litle meanwhile. Now there is a lot of places of well preserved 3 centimetres thick of ice. Now all have started to melt rapidly so there are lakes and tretarous places on the pavement simply everywhere. I walk a lot so it is nightmare. You have to also be careful not to be splashed with water waves made by cars hitting puddles with speed. As a result I feel already mussles in my legs caused by this endless strugle.

Seriously you could pre order? Where did you see it? :)

I know The Walking Dead, I almost bought the game, it is said to have one of the best plots of horror games making you make uneasy choices. I cannot watch the series as my wife said that how many movies there will be about zombies. She is sceptic after the newest Residen Evil Retribution, she watched it with me as I love the game and Milla Jovovich is one of my favourite actresses. But she does not want to watch The Walking Dead with me, and I watch cool movies with her so I take some time to break her :P

I think the game The walking Dead was overtaken by The Sleeping Dogs at that Steam sales time for me, or maybe even Hitman :) Do you like Hitman Rman?

The prince games starting with The Warrior Within are obligatory Sir :) and the riddles will entertain your brain amazingly :)

I have not seen the movie that you are talking about made 40 years ago.

As always I answer in chaotic way :hmm:

Regards,

Mero overgamer? ;)

Pre-ordered from Amazon.

Hitman - tried it, not for me.

My gal is addicted to the Walking Dead. :)

I'll take a look at The Sleeping Dogs. Never heard of it. Not really much of a Steam guy. Thanks for the tip. :3

I like Milla too. Tell you the truth, she makes the movies for me. She's also made a few Indie which I found way more interesting than the RE movies..... and I like the games.

I'll look about to find a good deal for The Warrior Within to see if its my cup of tea.

Regards, Rman. :D

Ha I knew it! you are deeply into gore and very easy games :P

Maybe you have tried first three parts? I rediscoverd hitman with Hitman Blood Money where it is nicely balanced, you can hide, but you can also shot all that moves including chickens on one farm :) But Absolution, the newest one is really cool for me. The adrenaline I had during one mission, when I was melting in the crowd, and policemen were looking for me, while I was waiting for the train, was so high that I barely stood it ;) I was nervously preparing Q button to grab one of the passersby when spotted, make him human shield, and shot the cap. But then it gots messy, as the crowd really realistically escapes into many directions, and S.W.A.T. Team that awiais for orders in the station building is on the spot within seconds. Also when you hide behind pillar, and you are happy, that the policemen say, he disappeared, and your pursuit status go lover, suddenly a runing guy, here and there, screams "ueeueee he is here!!!!!!!!! and escapes. Of course patrol immediatly nears in formation. Damn I reccomend :)

Here you can allo kill all, but bullets end so quickly man. It is not Max Payne with 999 bullets (on purpose exaggeration) in his pockets. And believe me you have fun, when you cause "accident" for a victim, for example you pour gasoilne around and your victim like to smoke. He lights his cigarette and.. target neutralised. You slovly go out from location, and see people runnig toward the explosion to take care of it. And you still think will they spot you, Will they suspect? :) I remember in one mission I did things smoothly, and I did this mistake that I runned. A guy said "Why are you running? And started to look at me, then suspicion bar went high enoug to alarm a lot of people. I died as Hitman took to long to reload his revolver ;)

Warrior Within you shall like, only if you like spectacular killing, many impressive riddles, connected with the Princes abbility to run on walls and do miracles with jumping, twisting and so on. Cool bosses, cool enemies, and cool usage of reverting, putting forward, stopping and so on with time! as it is all about. Muysic cool, locations cooooool :) Graphic very nice, unless you are sick Crysis 3 like, mega hiper ultra realistic amazing graphic high level lover :lecture:
