Yep, just because we didn't have the source doesn't mean we were dormant for 5 years..

Where can I find the other "add-on content"? Maybe you still have them around... It's possible that it would be of use to us or someone else.
lav_coyote24: I just recognized that the maps are packed in WDG... Do you still have the unpacked originals?

Re: where is the music?
* I'm pretty sure between me & Lav we have most of the maps & ALL the seminal Mods, A .I.s, etc. created from '99 - '04..DevUrandom wrote:

* It's also quite possible that the warzone.de crew has much of it as well.... at least they used to years ago.

Re: where is the music?
This is good news. I doubt anything will be too badly broken so I guess the only real challenge is getting all of the various mods together, tweaking them slightly and making a database of them.I don't know what you've been told but there IS a substantial body of very high quality add-on content to WZ 2100 that cannot presently be played with the WRP ver. but runs perfectly under v.1.10.

* I saw your guys concerns in the IRC Logs 'bout the license wording for all these maps, mods, Ai's, assoc with NEWST.
* I was in the legal profession for over a decade so I understand.
* Whatever wording works best for the WRP I'll sign-off on.
* Let me just tell you what my concerns are by useing a concrete example that I was co-creator of.
* The example is "Citadel Elite"...(CE)
* "CE" was/is many things:
* 1.) An original map
* 2.) Custom Tile Set
* 3.) Custom / New GFX (inc anims)
* 4.) New Units (ie. Dual Heavy Canon, RJ-Flying Trucks, etc.
* 5.) New Weaps
* 6.) Altered Stats
* 7.) A Custom A.I.
* 8.) A .pdf Scenario
* K..... make it so that it can run under the WRP as it does under v.1.10 (GPM-wise) and acknowledge its creators.
* If anybody wants to modify "CE's" GPMs they can but they have to call-it something else & acknowledge the derivation.
* Any of the original components to "CE" can be reused in other works.... just acknowledge the usage. (Actually this has been done extensively since "CE" was released.....that is, many of it's components have been reused in other Maps & Mods.... mostly, not acknowleded but we didn't make a big deal about it.... that the work was valued enough to inspire other works was kwel & good enough for us).
* That's all I can think of right now. If you have any other concerns or need further clarifications just let us know. We want to facilitate, make it work for the benefit of those who would like additional WZ Toys to play with than they have at present.

Re: where is the music?
That sounds fantastic. Just give my brain a couple of hours to recover from that legal discussion (they really do my head in).

Sorry...
I misinterpreted that you didn't want any derivates.
Nice that I was wrong.
I'll then use CC BY-SA 3.0 for anything NEWST I find.

Re: where is the music?
I'm not able to find the topic where I discussed it, but I was agains't support removal of .mp3 music.DevUrandom wrote: Actually it was more like no-one using mp3s (there was a vote), no-one complaining about a removal, libmad being a bit touchy when compiling and the simplified code, that lead to the removal of mp3 support for 2.1...
It's a pain to convert to .ogg, there is some small quality loss going from .mp3 to .ogg and .ogg isn't supported by most mp3 players so people don't have music in that format most of the time.

Credits to Kacen for making the image.

Re: where is the music?
at least as i followed it (joining newst near its final days), newst -> pumpkin-2 -> realtimestrategies.net ("rts.net") -> wz2100.net
as soon as one was created, the previous one lived on by a thread before dying off, and more or less, through each of these migrations, the community has stayed fairly contiguous, losing some members, and gaining others. the exception, some might argue, is that rts.net is still alive and distinct as a modder community, while wz2100.net is a developer community (though rts.net has only had one post that i can see in the last 2 months, and the only user online when i was there was one guest, which was me).
and of course, i'm sure there were many other sites that people frequented, but i haven't heard of any as large as those in this lineage.
