Computer-AI need help?

Post by Mr. Impact »

:-\

Hi Warzone-Developer

First off all:good work and thank You very much!

I play this game since the first release in 1999.

The only bad thing about Warzone-2100:

The Computer-AI walls itself in. After some time, they have no possibility to move in their own base. Many AI-Units stand around the factory and wait until I destroy some buildings that they are able to move again!

I have to help the computer-AI!?  ???

I do not believe this is a problem of the Waypoints" because this appears in all maps I ever played.

What is Your opinion about this? Please let me know.

Greetings

when an ai walls itself in it is the fault of the map maker.....  please see the following tutorials for the information you requested...

http://docs.wz2100.net/map%20tutorials/ ... index.html

for the older 16 bit editor - http://docs.wz2100.net/map%20tutorials/ ... .html  and the individual tutorials by 4rnie and others...
‎"to prepare for disaster is to invite it, to not prepare for disaster is a fools choice" -me (kim-lav_coyote25-metcalfe) - it used to be attributed to unknown - but adding the last bit , it now makes sense.

Thank you for the fast reply. :)

I will read these tutorials and try to build my own map.

But can you tell me actually a Warzone-map (name?) where this problem not appears! I am really eager to play this map!  ;)

Maybe it works well with a totally flat map and nothing inside. But this map does not make too much fun!

What is your opinion?

much greetings

did you try a more open map.

Actually it is quite common for me too, but if its the map and not the ai... then maybe i or someone could modify the ai so it does not do that on a map that its quite common on..

If so can warzones AI be able to learn in a way.. such as if someone attacked a particular area it would send suitable units to that area cus what i see is it only attacking your bases factory and then (after everything else) the HQ.. its seems way to predictable. ???

Cya :)

always the same units too, i attacked an ai base using cyborgs as meat followed by bunker busters, there was nothing left to stop my cannons & assault gunners. if the ai would copy player units that got high kill/loss ratios, then used them the same way.
i dont know how many waves of ai tank killer vtol i minced while they where attacking a factory...

Exactly! i know, if the AI was to use the player a role model in a way or develop a random script in a way to see what works best (Like real people do) then the game would be much more "intelligent" in a way...
the Ai does not work symmetrically either so there bases look like its was sneezed on the map, then the game would be more realistic.

bwaa hahaha thats brilliance.

in TA the base expanded on a grid, but the 'roads' where often too narrow for the mega units & locked up movement
its hard to tell ai how to build a base that taking unit movement into consideration(aparently).

doesn't sound that hard... in such a case you just tell it to construct new virtual roads (vectors stored just in the ai code) whenever it envisions a new base expansion. later, it can build the actual roads

if its that easy for coders to do... why no one has fixed it? even in recent games!
without simply making half the units tiny, or having the ai building sprawling morass like bases with almost no apparent structure.

That would be a neat feature, specially as they are recovering pre collapsed sturctures, but sometimes the roads may be assumed as units somehow online or the ai might attack the floor.. but that might snot happen.
I hate the fact the game has not gates, maybe that would solve some issues such as, units storming your base, not fitting units through gap, bad wall disign.
But then the AI would mess up and put gates in the middle of nowhere, god knows how bad they can get..

I'd like to see the AI behave a wee bit more intelligible as well. It doesn't necessarily have to be harder, just a little smarter in not preventing itself from being an effective enemy. :)

Heh, maybe even have a database where it can store information on past matches so it can analyze it's own mistakes? Though that's probably asking too much... I'll settle for intelligible.  ;D
