...Rockets or Cannons?

Really I can't seem to decide if the better range of rockets or the higher damage per shot and HP of cannons is better. What do you guys think?

Also, how far should I research into either tree? Which one works best in tandem with MGs?

Impossible to answer. The game is supposed to have a balance between the two.
In 3.1 beta 10, rockets turned out to be better though. Hope that's temporary.

I guess it depends a lot on what propulsion you're using. By putting rockets on a hovercraft, you can quickly move in to fire the rockets, then run away to avoid taking damage while they recharge.

It also depends on propulsion, if you need artillery and even the map.

Propulsion is a production-time choice.
Cannons vs. rockets is one-time choice for the whole game.
It is propulsion that gets decided by a weapon choice, not weapon choice depending on propulsion.

I didn't mean that. I meant that rockets, for example, can be better against tracks than cannons. And the rockets AA can be better against VTOLs than the cannons AA. (Flak cannon is useless at T3)
