Strange military craft / weapons

Post by aubergine »

I was stuck in a youtube loop and found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbecl88NsEQ ... Check out the 3 missile turrets about half way though the video!

Hi aubergine,
This seems to be one of the fast "flying" Destroyer/ Battleships. It's a kind of hovercraft if you like.
They designed them to carry a full arsenal of rockets etc. then to position it as fast as possible behind
enemy lines and to destroy a mission critical object (may a radar-station or anti-aircraft-emplacements.

However it may not detected once upon a time because of less object-detection systems. They only had
radio, radar, view - It is fast and so it would have been a sever surprise to the enemy.
As I know they never or just a few times really engaged with that kind of construction.
It's one of those things already replaced with other technology before it was fully researched.

It is possible to ride this thing on land too. The main problem was that it doesn't work whit high waves,
storms or rough land in case of using it in the desert/ barrens, etc.

One very interessting aircraft is the never ending flying fortress too. It was designed after the beginnings
of nuclear research - it is an aircraft that is powered with nuclear energy and never has to land except to
maintain it, changing crew or pickup/ drop something or after 10 years :D

I thing that kind of "crafts" are not suitable for Warzone-project, but thank you for the links, there where
a few interresting shapes, bringing new ways of thinking for certain designs.
