Whats Up ?

So its been awhile since I stopped in whats going on in WZ land ?

Who is still left from the old days ?

Whats changed with the game, last time I d/led this game the Flamers seemed a bit to powerful in T1.

About the only game I have time for these days is Skyrim, and still waiting on Guild Wars 2, blah IF only I had real internet these days.........

Anyways I am living in the middle of nowhere in the Desert in northeast Arizona moved here last summer, sadly living on the Navajo Indian Reservation has its draw backs, I had cable when most people still had 56k 12 years ago, now I have 3G air card with a 5G limit monthly, and at times slower then 56k, so much for progress. I do love it here tho, so much to do, and 30 mins from the Grand Canyon, and about 1 hour from Monument Valley,1 1/2 hours from Hopi 1st and 2nd Mesa,and 3 hours from Mesa Verde, plus tons of others things. Oh if your ever coming up this way to see the Grand Canyon and want a real tour hit me up, been doing this for friends and family over the past 6 months and so far everyone loved it, I can do it faster and show more then any tour.

Hey 4nE... that's a mighty tempting offer. That's one my favorite areas of the SW & 4 corners. Used to make 2-3 trips a year from SF through-out the '90s. Then also spent '070-'08 working on upgrading Qwest's (& ATT) Network Inrastucture outta Phoenix so on my days off I went NW & NE exploring.

Few ol' timers around but mostly they lurk. I'm 'bout the only one left from way back in our day that is active with any regularity. Up till just a week ago there was Coyote but he's banned (don't ask for dets, it's quite sordid & liikely still "flamable").

Much of note since last you posted - around the 1st introduction of "FlaME" map editor, as I recall. Best bet look at most active-recent threads in "Showcase", "Dev Scripting" & "Dev Art" BBs and with a little reading you'll get a better picture than me trying a capsul summary.

Well if you get the time PM the 411 on LAV25, as it is I am still trying to get the latest build, my 3G dont like downloading but then 2 mins, I also took note that WZ dont work on Win7 well the normal WZ with 1.10 patch anyone got any ideas here ? I get a error on line 45 or some crap may need to look at that more when i got time. I also saw a comment about 10 player maps WTF ? When did that change, I had worked some with FlaME when it first came out awhile back not to be picky but it was not EW and I dont recall what it was but I tried toying around with some of my Arctic maps and I could not change them over, but that was on my PC thats no longer working BLAH.

So your back in San Fran, thats kind of funny because I am coming there in April or May for a weekend to do some research for my book I am working on, I need to go thru the Waldo Tunnel a few times and over the GGB , not sure of dates yet because I am going back to PA for a week at the end of March and it will be after I get back. Also I knew you were a packrat from back in the day or I thought you were, I am looking for 2 of my maps and cant find the WDG or LND for them ArcticMyst 8 player, and BigCraterLake 8 player I know I had them in the FTP back in P2 days. Its kind of funny after a divorce and getting remarried and 4 moves I still have a lot of stuff left from NEWST an P2 but I cant find any of my backup CD's from after 02. I spent most of yesterday digging thru my CD's oh the memory's, but around late 02 nothing else and I know I still had a lot of work going on into 04 with the rebalance patch and all of Stratas weapons he was toying with. I know between May 04 and Sept 04 I stopped working on most projects, because I got into Guild Wars, Joint Ops, Postal 2MP Betas, and a few other major Betas out at the time. Its kind of sad because now I could be in Alpha testing and I have no internet life is Ironic.

I think I have one of the maps you're looking for in wz format. The original crew I played online with hosted it from time to time (2.3 beta1-13?, maybe 2.2.4). FlaME will open it for editing or exporting to LND. Sounds like you're familar with the FlaME of several years ago? It's probably worth another look. When Flail adds features he tends to go big The big issue I had with FlaME (and I'm not sure if it's changed) was that if you opened a map you had to go to the Misc. tab and choose Reinterpret Terrain in order to get textures to blend.

Sweet that's one of them just need to find ArcticMyst I had 2a versions of that a 4 player an 8 player.

I beat that with 6 players in just over an hour I wiped out all bases but it took another 40 mins to find one damn Minipods on a viper body running around, I love that map had some really go battles on there had one game that was 2vs2vs2 that lasted for over 6 hours from T1 and all of us had lost and rebuilt new bases a few times. Would you have any of my Arctic maps ? I d/led most the maps on this site, just not sure who did what to the old maps.

Also how do you change the different mods around in the game, I want the basic 1.10 patch, also what do I have to do to make my old mods work ?

Dunno 'bout Win7 - don't run it, probably never will. But have seen related postings in Troubleshooting BB.

!0 player - within past year or so. Never explored myself - making or playing.

FlaME - love it. Spent a solid year, countless hours, on a set of maps and associated mods with UAVs, Mechs, Scav Choppers, BatM-APCs, various CAM Transports, custom A.I., etc... My last purely joyful WZ doing-creating-experimenting-stress /testing experience. Last year or so been into VR /Serious Game creation - the possibilities are very exciting & the culture is a much better fit for me personally as well, more like Pumpkin / NEWST / P2 days.

Denver, CO is still my home base. I make it to SF a handful of times a year. Was there last right before X-mas and will be there again next March 23 -27.

I'm in NYC right now (bad time of year weather-wise but oh how I love the art gallery scene, the Village, etc.) & will be back in Denver tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I might have ArticMyst on a really old Pentium DT I decommissioned a while back - yea, still hang on to some of these 'ol HWs and yea, when it comes to files especially, I'm a bit pack-rattish. Anyway, I'll fire-up the 'ol P-box tomorrow or Monday, look for it and put it up here when-if found.

Works fine on win7 for lots of people, but i've heard reports of broken 1.10 patch recently ... not sure where or for what version.
