Mulitiplay - Opensuse Linux problems

Post by SuseUser »

I have warzone installed on x2 machines. one running XP pro, and one running Opensuse 10.2. the warzone on the windows machine doesn't crash very often.

My problem is the copy i have on my linux Machine will hang whenever i try to play across the network usually within 5mins, but sometimes it lasts about 30mins before hanging.

when the game hangs i am forced to to a hard reboot as the keyboard and mouse both stop responding.

this to me is spoiling the game for me as i only decided to play it because of the MP play. i am not interested in campaign play, and never will be.

how can i solve this instability issue ?

my current version is 2.0.7

Multiplayer between computers with different OSes is unlikely to work well in 2.0. We are fixing this for 2.1.

i have noticed that it also freezes when i try a skirmish against bots. ( on the Suse Machine )

smaller maps seem to run for slightly longer than larger maps before freezing and forcing me to reboot.

the same here...I believe it's an opensuse problem.
If (windows rulez) then (Linux fails)

Decided to install and run the game through "wine" on the linux machine.

although performance is slighty lower.. it plays in a much more stable manor.. although it still managed to crash in end game period

( i had vtols, medium cannons and was half way through researching the 1st heavy body ) <-- that should give a slight idea of timescale

overall im much happier with how it plays, but i hope the linux version is fixed soon as wine casues my system to slow down a little.

thanks
