Re: map editor
Sorry for inappropriate answer.
There is only two map editors for Warzone2100. Its : editworld & flame. If don't like them than make a better one.luizrgc wrote:Hi, someone could indicate a map editor is good?

I don't have anything against editworld, it is just old & unfriendly for users. Flame is better because it have been developing when editworld haven't.lav_coyote25 wrote:you laugh at editworld??? why? and be very carefull with your answer... i dont use flame - at all. cant - is too unstable. as for editworld32beta - i have yet to experience a problem in the last 3 or 4 years. but that is just me...

Re: map editor
editworld crashes for after a few clicks for the toolbar, but I've never had stability issues with flaME.
This is why some features aren't implemented: http://forums.wz2100.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=7490&view=unread#p87241

- manual cliff face texturing using edge brushes (paint the tiles above/below, while you paint the cliffs, then fill the gap in the middle),
- manual 'filling' (you can take an area of one type of ground and randomly rotate all of it with one click, this is useful for older maps where the creator hasn't randomly rotated tiles, flaME either fills everything on the map or you have to re-interpret, fill the area to a different type of ground and then fill it back with what you wanted in the first place),
- changing the height of a single tile (moving 4 vertices at once, flaME goes from 1, to 5 to 9 vertices),
- manual fine tuning of individual vertices (select a vertex and drag up and down with the mouse, far easier than using the change height tool),
- better grid/selection (it's a grid, not a box),
- off centre object placement (features don't need to always be in the middle of a tile, editworld also clearly displays which tile the object takes up using the 2d view),
- editworld allows feature rotation on all 3 axes,
- object movement (click and drag, none of the silly, select the object then press M to move it to the tile you want),
- image export options (editworld can export the entire map to a giant .bmp file, 4c-urban chaos is 2561x2561 after cropping the empty edges, each map tile is about 40x40 pixels big and it also exports buildings and features in that image)
- editworld shows team colours in the 3d display
- while I don't think it's used by the ai anymore, editworld also shows the regions created by cliff tiles and gateways
- breaking stuff
(eg. I had to manually texture all of ai-assualt since I somehow broke the edge brushes and 4c-pyramidal has players 4, 5, 6 and 7 as scavengers, for some reason, it wouldn't compile unless I added a truck for players 4, 5 and 6.)

Re: map editor
only for those that dont have the patience to set it up... as i said. i use editworld32beta exclusively. flame always screws up for me. and i mean always. it is way to sketchy on my machines... and i have tried ... anyways. whatever. make maps however you will.
