Re: change rank
*The first star indicate the number of kills. A bug prevent windows users to get it. Otherwise it's too easy.
*The second indicate the total number of game played. The mere fact of entering a game is enough. just play.
*The third is the count of won game. Also easy to get.
Now there is the medal. It indicate the ratio of win over lost victory. You need to be good for those one... :
2:1 Bronze (green)
4:1 Silver (grey)
8:1 Gold (purple)
Now there is a proposal i did. That is waiting on the devs desk and might come soon. :
*4rth star : Non-quitter : Do not leave your games in the middle.
and 3 new medals :
1:1 chevron (no band)
16:1 Platinum (Cyan band)
32:1 Orichalcum (Orange)

Those are some good ideas, since more specific ranks are important, and a star to see who doesn't like to quit is definitely an important label.Iluvalar wrote:Now there is a proposal i did. That is waiting on the devs desk and might come soon. :

quick question here... how does one tell the difference between quitting and a hung computer or a router crash ( loss of power or other problem). just asking.driver4 wrote:Those are some good ideas, since more specific ranks are important, and a star to see who doesn't like to quit is definitely an important label.Iluvalar wrote:Now there is a proposal i did. Does a crash count as a quit? I wouldn't think so but I'm not sure either. Loss of power might be a quit... but freezing?lav_coyote25 wrote:quick question here... how does one tell the difference between quitting and a hung computer or a router crash ( loss of power or other problem). just asking.driver4 wrote:Those are some good ideas, since more specific ranks are important, and a star to see who doesn't like to quit is definitely an important label.Iluvalar wrote:Now there is a proposal i did. Re: change rank
Yeah of course, when the power shut down, the source code automaticaly send a dwarf that run on a rainbow straight to you home with a form that ask you if it was a quit for a good reason or just a rage quit. hehehe.
More seriously, I can't detect the difference between all kind of quits. However, dont panic as i fixed the stars with actual stats from actual games (with freeze, crashes and quits). Most "non quitters" players that I tested end up with a nice silver ranking star. Players that pays extra care to stay all games long will have a gold ranking.
More importantly, those ranks are not really taken much seriously right now. I dont believe it will suddenly change. I just try to had a bit more relevancy to that tool to fix good teams.

Re: change rank
Well, I'm convinced. Ranks should be more specific, high quit rates shouldn't go by so easily. It sucks when you see someone with a max rank only to quit from the room on purpose when they lose...Iluvalar wrote:More seriously, I can't detect the difference between all kind of quits. Re: change rank
In the end, does it matter why people quit? If a person is a bad loser, has an overheating system, bad drivers, bad power grid, bad internet connection, I guess if they quit often, it's no fun playing with them, regardless of the reason.
We want information... information... information.

Iluvalar, what would the star/rank look like if someone crashed once daily? This might be common.

Re: change rank
We all crash once daily (I've just been kicked from a game) so you would look like everybody else.
To be exact i fixed the gold star at 60% of ended games. It might look very low but with freeze, crashes, host quit, rehost and all... It is not so easy to get.
