Units just blow up?!

I have been playing this game for awhile now and STILL don't understand why when I send units to a base or units charge me my units and structures will blow up BEFORE the units start attacking. What's up with that?

That happens in multiplayer when the game goes out of sync.

And as you explained it, the desync was pretty bad. You should consider looking for some really slow machine/internet_connection in your game and tell_him_to_upgrade/stop_playing_with_him (or start playing on master builds ). Usually one bad machine is enough to cause huge desync.
