sound problem

Post by crunch »

funny i was just thinking about this game the other day and i did a little search on the net for it and found this place .
so i downloaded the latest non beta version of the modded game just for fun for some retro gaming in warzone 2100

sadly the sound in the game clips badly as far as unit combat noises go and sounds like garbage vs the real game version.

im using winxp sp3
sound blaster audigy zs2 driver version 5.12.1.442
directx 9c version {4.09.0000.0904}
Intel p43 chip set
9800gtx driver version 197.13
core 2 3915mgz {e5200}
2 gigs ram ddr2 800mgz Kingston

funny thing is after downloading your version of warzone 2100 i went looking for the real game cd for warzone that i had somewhere but couldn't find for a wile .
once i did i installed it just to see if the sound problem was still their and its not .seems your version of warzone is a down grade and not a upgrade on the sound topic. rest is good

sound problems are as follows
no sound when moving anything
clipped sound when building anything.
weapon sounds are clipped.you hear a popping sound then nothing.
if i didn't know better id say its a buffer problem.

funny as well the game runs in glide mode on my video hardware .guess the api support was added to this gpu seeing as nvidia took over 3dfx and all that way back when.i wonder if mini gl works too on this video card...

as for other people with integrated sound .your hardware costs like $0.50c from china and 95% of your sound hardware is emulated meaning its a program that acts like a vampire on your computer ram\cpu and you wonder why you have sound problems.my self i have junk sound hardware on my laptop and i cant even listen to a mp3 on it with out wanting to vomit.long story short if you have sound problems ya shore update your drivers and or spend more then $1 us on your sound hardware.

off topic
funny reading about people with laptop and or integrated video garbage hardware and complaining about video bugs\missing textures and what not .your using bottom of the barrel video card hardware that my voodoo1 with 4 megs ram would kill your junk in benchmarks and you wonder why everything bugs .laptop video hardware of that kind isn't even directx 4 compatible .
you got what you payed for imho.

total hardwere for intagrated sound

rest is software

btw what kind of sound hardware was used in testing ? make model etc etc ? :lecture:
