These have come up a few times in discussions, and I thought I'd throw in my two pen'neth.
I don't know how the AI handles having two emplacements of radically differing range, but the simplest way to balance a coaxial MG would be if it were shorter ranged than cyborg anti-armour weapons, and no more powerful than the basic 7.62mm machine gun. The main use for this would be reducing the effectiveness of cyborg flamer rushes versus heavy tanks and ATGW vehicles, without completely eliminating the need for a supporting force of infantry or vehicles with anti-personnel weapons.
