Possible new game modes?

Post by Collective Leader »

I've been thinking as I laid waste to my enemies that there should be multiple modes to choose from for skirmish games. A couple of these suggestions I had are as follows, feel free to add more if you want.

-Deathmatch: players are given all research upgrades automatically to go straight to the carnage (ideally played on large maps)

-Hold the Line: a game of survival in which you are pitted up against many separate collaborating foes who are not afraid to send in everything they've got, and you have to survive for a preset (and long) time limit.

-Clearing: A transport lands a group of powerful units and a truck that you control in the midst of a vastly enemy-controlled area, and your job is to establish a foothold and clear the map of any and all enemy resistance.

What do you think? :D

(I have no modding ability at the moment, and so I will need somebody willing to produce these mods, if they want. Volunteers?)

That one should be pretty straightforward: you'll need to modify a few files in here (or take them from your installed game). Just add any research you want to defTech structure (in multiplay.vlo or multiplay2.vlo, not sure which one should work), like this:

Code: Select all

defTech[0] RESEARCHSTAT	"R-Vehicle-Prop-Wheels"

Plus you'll need to increase defTech[64] in 'multiplay.slo' to... 400? I guess we have 451 researches totally.

Code: Select all

public	RESEARCHSTAT	cleanTech[32],	baseTech[32],	defTech[64];
and dont forget to up

Code: Select all

numDefTech	int 42
in 'multiplay.vlo' to new actually specified research count.

Then zip those two files in MEGAMOD.wz archive.
That's all... presumably XD
Ow... that deftech is for "FULL BASES" games IIRC

I can say that Collective Leader has done an awesome job. I liked his new modes of games. But I do not know how to make it possible in the game. I would like to have such kinds of modes. I hope you will do this for us in future. Keep up the good work.

Thanx. Not that I would know the methods to use to accomplish this, but I think that there could be expansions to the main menu to take the player to these different modes. (You know how there's "Skirmish" and "Campaign?") Well, essentially they would be entirely seperate from the rest of it, with built in AI for a small selection of maps across all three difficulties. I've seen you guys do some good stuff similar to these, so I expect that you could have a bit of an easier time if they were simply seperate main menu items. Just a thought. :lecture: :geek: :D :3
