Multiple weapons on a tank

I think it would be nice if you could build a second weapon on some chassis types. (the heavy ones perhaps?) Imagine making a tank with a flamer for infantry and a canon for tanks :wink:

You can place two weapons on the Dragon Body. :lecture:

And if you're still not happy, you can go into WZ's txt files and make it so that you can have up to three weapons on any tank size you like.

Here's what you have to do:

1: make a copy of mp.wz.
2: convert it to a zip file.
3: Extract wz.zip.
4: Go into stats/body.txt.
5: If you can convert body.txt to a spreadsheet, it will help (convert the txt file to a csv file). Otherwise, count right until you reach the number that determines how many weapons a body can have. You can change the number of weapons to no more than 3.
6: If you converted body,txt to a csv and opened it with a spreadsheet, change the extension back to a .txt, and open it with a word processor.
7: On the word processor (openoffice, microsoft office, etc.), click on the Find and Replace button.
8: Type in " in Find, and leave Replace blank, and click Replace All.
9: Save the file.
10: The easy way to finish up is to simply copy the entire folder to the mods folder and treat it like a mod (works for me). The "proper" way to finish up is in viewtopic.php?f=10&t=6377

Someone mentioned sponson based weapons for heavy bodies a while back. I think having auxiliary weapons on a tank is worth exploring but one would have to research the technology. This could be balanced by having the double mount cost and weigh somewhat more than the sum of each mount separately. Auxiliary weapons should in my opinion be the cyborg versions of the guns - cyborg machinegun, cyborg cannon, etc.

I think this would open up new tactical possibilities - hpv + aux flamer on python would be fun to see! :)

But seeing this gave me a new idea, multiple weapon turrets. (Anyway, I think that's hard to implement)
With that, I mean (for example) a cannon turret, with a small rocket launcher or MG.

It is very funny to have multiple weapons on the tank. My Warzone 2100 is running on my Mac. I didn't find the file as you mentioned. Possible to give more details?

i think that would be cool if you could put an extra weapon on some of the turrents like the heavy cannon or assault gun. Maybe like a bunker buster or some kind of mini rocket launcher but i would make the extra weapon a bit slower and not as powerful as the stand alone turrents.

What about multiple weapons on cyborgs? Maybe one on each arm?

there was a mod for the original 1.10... i believe it was called the john woo mod..( yes THAT John Woo).
cyborgs with twin weapons... looked ok, needed something though... :hmm:

hi good day ive implemented the procedure described and work fine , without any problem

You can do it in all unit if you want , i only do it for Medium and Hard bodies and the speed is fine based on the tanks that i do (Missiles with a MG) for the moment

in cyborg i did not do it because in the game whe dont have the possibility to edit the cyborg , if anyone know please tell me

If you want i can upload the procedure more detailed and with pictures

That's so cool! The uploaded file crashes wz 3.1 beta 2 so I had to uninstall and edit the file manually in my mp.wz - works like a charm. It's a shame you can't combine sensors and weapons on the same vehicle :s

i've added double turret bodies into this mod:

it's hardcoded but i did not see reason why it was done that way, and i think once upon a time its should be moved into stats
