There was once conversation in #games about what weapon a unit transport should have, and even longer ago IIRC something was mentioned about the HMG on the Cyborg Transport.
What do you think of removing the HMG from the Cyborg transport and instead the transport's armament would be the same as whatever cyborgs where in it (i.e., 10 lancer Cyborgs = 10 lancers worth of fire power on the borg transport; 5 MG borgs, 3 Lancer borgs, and 2 Heavy Gunners = etc...)?
The transport would still be highly vulnerable to AA (maybe a slight HP increase), but the borgs in the transport could target air or ground depending on their weapon versatility.

Re: Cyborg Transport armament
o.O nice one (: well, unless it overpowers the transport, it could be nice!

Re: Cyborg Transport armament
NO WAY! I usually use transports as unlimited ammo air attack, that would make them WAY to powerful.

Re: Cyborg Transport armament
lol, ofcourse it would over power it (compared to the single HMG it has now, unless ofcourse if you only have 1 or 2 MG borgs inside).
Make-shift air attacks with Transports only work if you somehow manage to make several of them before your opponent can make any AA, usually a result of a Pro vs. Noob game. Maybe you can get away with this against the ai, too.
I think it'd ad a cool new and realistic dynamic to the game.

Re: Cyborg Transport armed by Cyborgs
I'd rather just see newly built transports armed with the assault gun once the relevant tech is researched.

Nah. Cytran spamming is already a decently powerful tactic on high oil maps. Making them significantly stronger would be a horrible idea.

Exactly, since high power maps are the most often played.Zarel wrote:Nah. Cytran spamming is already a decently powerful tactic on high oil maps. Making them significantly stronger would be a horrible idea.

Re: Cyborg Transport armed by Cyborgs
Have you ever tried to to send a group of transports across a line of AA?
edit: hmmm...maybe that's the point. If a transport could blast through a wall of AA, unload troops and press on...I can see that becoming a devastating strategy. The Cyborgs would need an accuracy reduction while in the transport.
Zarel/Verin: Do you mean low oil perhaps??? I've never seen this done effectively on a high oil map, which is what I was insinuating in the question above.
Honestly, I wasn't suggesting this as a benefit to anyone's Transport attack strategy. Again, I've only seen this become effective when a player has an enormous advantage, either skill or tactical, and that person is choosing to show-boat, vs. finish the game. I just think it makes sense

Transports ive found are pretty resistant to AA, if you have 6 or more of them.
