More retreating options

Post by unregistered user »

1) It would be nice if there was a retreat to area option. This would be useful because (in the campaign at least) there are times when the shortest rout to the LZ is strait through an enemy base. This causes your "retreating" units to do a suicidal charge once they lose enough hit points. Another possible way to fix this would be to add a retreat from enemy fire option but a major drawback to that might be that if you get flanked it might confuse your units.

2) Another thing that it would be nice to have would be the option to set your factories to train units with your favored action settings instead of always training them with the attack at ideal range, do or die, fire at will, ect. or at lest have recycled units keep whatever the old unit was set to.(Ignore this thank you for the information Milo)

You can't in the campaign for quite a few levels, and it's pretty high up the tech tree in any case.

You can, right click on the factory and you get a menu like you do for units, set the options you want, and that will be the new defalt for that factory.
In general, if you see glowing, pulsating things in the game, you should click on them.

1) Repair facilities are not high up the tech tree.

2) Many people would like the option to set a designated retreat zone, making such a zone without the use of a truck, would be hard I think.
A 1 hp, 1x1 tile structure with a 1 second build time and energy cost, with no research pre reqs, that only acts as the highest priority retreat, could be usefull - call it a "rally point" structure or something like that.
No rally points allowed within 5 tiles of each other (to prevent possible abuse from spamming fields of them)

Or, have retreating units retreat to the nearest Repair facility *OR* unit with a repair turret (whichever is closer), so you just have your mobile repair units hang around where you want your units to retreat to, and a group of mobile repair units functions as a mobile Repair Facility

Either of those to options would work I'd rather the second since it would not involve any units that I would not want near a battle.

But the first option would work well too despite needing a truck because it would still solve the problems that one may not want to spend resources on a building which they cannot defend. It also solves the bigger problem of building a repair facility takes some time and by then the other player can better defend the vulnerable side of his base. It would also solve the fact that although yes one can get a repair facility quickly there are plenty of other technologies to research so one might not research it until later and in the campaign where you can't build a repair facility for the first six levels.

Thank you for the reply
