Warzone SVN?

Post by Tren »

Has anyone [sorry if this is a repost] every considered making warzone SVN [Subversion Software]?

As far as I understand, as long as you had an svn client, you could update warzone whenever without reinstalling the newer version. Allthough I have no idea how it's possible, reckon it'll work? :hmm:

Well, we have one for the source, but I think he means for the binary. That's an interesting thought - SVN as update mechanism.

I don't think SVN has a binary diff feature, so I doubt it would help.

http://subversion.apache.org/faq.html#binary-files - not sure though how well it would deal with our .wz files.

Edit: Some googling suggests rsync as a possibly better alternative, since every SVN checkout has all files twice, to see local changes (which is useless in this scenario).

I had first installed svn-trunk version with a Warzone-SVN package on my ArchLinux install. Although I'm not sure if this is what Tren was talking about.

But then i couldn't figure out how to update it. Then I switched to compiling from source code, and during regular updates (svn up) as guided by the devs.
