Mouse lags in Options Menus (when in Korean)
I found this out with the new (incomplete)Korean translation in the game.
If I go into the Mouse and Video Option Menus, the mouse lags (I suppose the frame rate of the game fell) for some reason.
When the game language is set to English, this does not happen, but it does happen in Korean.
My PC Stats.
Desktop, Win XP SP3, ram 513Mb, cpu 3.0Ghz, NVidia GeForce fx 5900xt
I think these log files might have something to do with it. What are "bounding boxes" for characters?
I also attached an RPT file from a crash I got when I clicked "Fastplay"

It couldn't find the size of the character in question, that is 'bounding box' issue. Do you have a screenshot on how it looks now ? Hit F10 and it will save a png & a .jpg that you can upload.
The crash was because illegal reference to memory.

Can you switch to hardware cursor, and see if that helps ?
Is the install directory of warzone in ASCII, or is it in Korean ? Can you print out the full path to the warzone2100.exe ?

Hardware cursor means non-colored cursor, right? Tried it on every one of the laggy screens; no effect.Buginator wrote:Can you switch to hardware cursor, and see if that helps ?

This is my installation directory:
C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100
This is the warzone folder (I have version 2.3.4, but the folder name did not change):
C:\Documents and Settings\Joshua\My Documents\Warzone 2100 2.3
As you can see, the directories are not Korean.
EDIT: Wait, belay that. Restarting Warzone without colored cursor has TAKEN AWAY THE LAG!!! I dunno why this happens... Do colored cursors take a lot of memory space or something??
Thanks for suggesting that.

Re: Mouse lags in Options Menus (when in Korean)
Hardware cursors are updated much like the desktop cursor, and the colored ones we have to paint it on the screen ourselves. Depending on your fps, that is pretty much what you get in terms of speed, so anything below 60fps and it starts to lag.urgood2 wrote:Hardware cursor means non-colored cursor, right? Though it might be some other problem, I didn't really notice any lags here with those menus in Korean.

I guess it is also possible that he didn't have any openGL acceleration...
urgood2, how does the game play ? What fps are you getting ? (enter cheat mode, and type showfps to toggle that on/off)

Checked it just now. In general, 30-40 fps.
I think the game played just fine, and scarcely noticed the frame rate (except when there were a lot of units, and it became a little slower).

Re: Mouse lags in Options Menus (when in Korean)
...that makes no sense. The main reason we offer OS-accelerated cursors is because they have better latency, not framerate. Framerate shouldn't be affected at all. On our modern 2+ GHz computers, even with no hardware OpenGL acceleration, painting a single 32x32 image should have a negligible impact on performance.

Re: Mouse lags in Options Menus (when in Korean)
I suspect it's the other way around - something in the menu (the combination of used fonts?) slows down the framerate, and so the software cursors lag. Though as I said, I don't notice anything on my system, so I can't do much more than speculate.
