Debug mode in multiplayer

Post by battousai »

I know that there are cheats for warzone... but I thought that the debug mode was only for the skirmish but a few minutes ago I saw this. :annoyed:

Is there some kind of program to detect cheaters or something? :?

If the cheater already has debug mode in multiplayer, why hasn't he/she [deleted]

No, try to play with people you trust. You can find some players on the IRC channel #warzone2100-games.

We do not condone cheating in multiplayer.

Are you sure about that last part?
EvilGuru wrote:There is no such program, to my knowledge. Nor should there need to be. So feel free to disclose it.

If someone wants to cheat all they need to do is remove a couple of lines of multiplayer code that send the "PLAYER XXX HAS ENTERED DEBUG MODE" and they could get away with it.

Regards, Freddie.

Maybe you should look up the meaning of "condone", since what EvilGuru said has no relevance to the statement I made.

To forgive, excuse or overlook (something).
To allow, accept or permit (something).
How does my post condone cheating?

Yeah I know, as of lately there have been a LOT of cheaters. One thing that has been suggested before is to allow the host to perm ban a player from his games.

Ehh.

Debug Mode is allowed in multiplayer, just as long as you use a debugging binary. It's useful for fixing bugs in multiplayer. :P Easiest solution, just quit when someone starts cheating. It's the undetectable cheating that's hard to deal with.

As for cheating without showing those messages, as others say, we don't condone cheating in multiplayer.

Well, we've never been particularly good at being all that unified, but for now our policy is not to be too specific when talking about how to cheat.

Also, we think that cheaters have small... self-esteem, if they need to get their kicks by ruining other people's fun instead of playing a fair match.

it's very disappointing. Getting 7 more players to join your server, to have an epic battle is completely ruined by a guy who launches 150 flamer tanks at game start.

IMO, it's really just one guy who's been doing the MP cheating under different in-game aliases. Majority of the guys are having a good time on the IRC without any issues since they play with people whom they can trust.

Advice to players:
Beware of players who may be trying to give you advice on how to enable cheating in MP. They may have malicious intent that may lead to breaking of your Warzone2100 install, or perhaps even messing with your computer, like using your webcam to spy on you. I'm not kidding! :ninja:
