Hey so, something thats bugging me a tad - i cant give units from a factory any orders.
Lets, say, for instance, I wanted to build a fighter screen of lancer vtols. Currently, that requires me to queue up lancer vtols (on infinite build mode, because thats how I roll). Well, I set the factory queue to go to the patrol origination point. And then.. well they go there. Every now and again I have to go to the factory point, select the units, and set them to patrol.
In other games, say, supcom..... you could set up the factory to directly patrol - the units come out of the factory, go to the first patrol point, and start patrolling. No micromanagent aside from the initial placement of factory, and turning it on (and generally at that point, in a flow economy i consider the few resources/s drain as 'spent', and for the rest of the game I pay that much resources for a fighter screen against bombers.. but i digress :p )
Generally as the game goes on, these units just.. accumulate. They patrol, they attack, they refuel, they patrol.. starting the cycle over again. Because of this, I now have an anti-aircraft screen that can be reappropriated for offensive use in moments - something you cant do with fixed defenses. (standard use of a fighterscreen in spring is to give them a new patrol point behind the other guys fighter screen so they shoot each other letting your bombers through safe)
TL:DR - I would like the ability to give units more complex orders out of a factory, including, but not limited to, waypointed path, patrol, and possible attack orders.

Waypoints already exist. Shift click(I think) to set waypoints. Check the guide. Also, more complex order mechanisms will have to wait until the UI is upgraded.

Especially the Void between the ears of people who think that No VTOL is a good idea, and won't lead to arty wars. I've won one, and I have to say: I hated it.

Re: patrol from factory
i think VTOL actions could use a bit of a look at, VTOL's for me still go to re-arm/re-fuel and then won't return to their patrol routes :C is this to make use of the VTOL towers or am i missing something?
