Ideas that could make this game better or worse

Ideas and suggestions for how to improve the Warzone 2100 base game only. Ideas for mods go in Mapping/Modding instead. Read sticky posts first!

I have an great ideas and i think that it should be added for multiplayer and campaing in WZ2100! 8)

It could make Warzone 2100 far better or far worse, iam not a dev but it would be nice to have it in multiplayer and campaing maybe...

The things that i hate in multiplayer and that are useless actualy or just very stupid:
Laser weapons(Ugly,useless weapons that nobody uses, total true), Rail Gun (Stupid in RTS games, good only for:Quake 3 Arena
Needlle Gun(Or what ever is called, is lame,ugly,too powerfull,always used on one tipical map that i forgot the name)... :stressed:

Its just my opinion!

Idea N.1 :

VTOL Cyborg Transport shouldt look like ordinary transport vehicle for away missions, I know that looks a bit difrient, It has weapon but when we look the whole perspective then we see few unlogical things... :augh:

- Too small doors for any bigger cyborg(Super Cyborg), It looks anoying when you are watching that 10 super kiborgs gets out of
VTOL Cyborg Transport because when you gather all Super Cyborgs there are actualy bigger then Transport it-self! :annoyed:

- VTOL Cyborg Transport is too similar to ordinary away mission transport and its always black

- If 10 small cyborgs could get in cyborg transport then there shouldt apply for super cyborgs, they are too huge and maximum
number of super cyborgs in VTOL Cyborg Transport should be 4... :ninja:

Idea N.2 :

There should be Ground Cyborg Transport Vehicle(GCTV), because if for infrantry there is APC then why cyborgs shouldt have it?
Only a fool would make GCTV for this game! What should be used in GCT if somebody decides to make it?

- Only transport small cyborgs

- Maximum number of cyborgs in GCTV must be atleast 6

- Defens Weapons? Twin Machine Guns or maybe 50,cal machinegun with bunker buster that is weaker for 75% then normal one
It should be attached to twin machine gun/50.cal machine gun so that it can aim at the same spot as mg :twisted:

- Resource needed to build it?10% lower need of energy resources then VTOL Cyborg Transport

Idea N.3 :

There should be Naval/Hover Cyborg Transport(N/HCT), It would be a great thing for Warzone.
Then we could make D-Day in Warzone style and have fun and what should be done about N/HCT? :roll:

- Only transport of small cyborgs

- Maximum number of cyborgs in N/HCT should be 8

- Defens Weapons 50.cal machinegun with bigger range :3

- Resource needed to build it? 5% more energy resources then Ground Cyborg Transport Vehicle

Idea N.4

What do you think about VTOL Vehicle Transport? Probavly that it would destroy gameplay of Warzone2100?
Well it wont if i set some limitations... :D

- Transport Limits? 6 light vehicles or 4 medium vehicles or 2 heavy vehicles

- Defens Weapons: Mini Pod Rocket Launcher (Ammo - 20 salves with 3 Mini Rockers)

- 15% bigger needs for energy resource then VTOL Cyborg Transport

idea N.5

Entrance Gates? That would be awsome in multiplayer and campaing! It would be harder to enter enemy base and easier to defend own base! :lecture:

- Cost? 500 energy resource

- Limits? 4 for each player

- Feature/Ability? Closes when enemy is close and opens when enemy is not in range, If enemy is in range, entrance doors can
be only opened by your units,if units touches the door! :geek:

- Defens Weapons? 50.cal machinegun(Stage 1 Entrance Gate), Medium Cannon(Stage 2 Entrance Gate), AutoCannon(Stage 3
Entrance Gate) :wink:

- Health Points? 2000(Stage 1), 5000(Stage 2), 8000(Stage 3) - It should depend on your researches of titanium reinforced
concrete walls! :twisted:

I know that i dint make any bigger contribution to the community except by making better translation and only 35% is mine and other 25% that are left have been done by KukY. :stare:

Also i know that devs would probavly lock it, delete it, put it somewhere else or tell some things that would sabotage whole my topic and that would be cyber topic terrorism XD

Atleast what i can do for now is wish you a good day and earn some money, then go to vacation with your pc or laptop and play warzone and probavly hire some coder or some artist/modeler that would make textures or models... :3

For idea 5: That already is in trunk. A basic gate, looks like a wall, but decorated, lowers itself when friendly unit approaches. They are really cool. :)

For ideas 1-4: Those would all include lots of big modifications to the code, I know that since I studied transport code little bit yesterday. Actually, I mostly just read the comments... ;)
I have made some tesing with ground transports: it has big pathfinding issues: reffer to viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4159 .

For weapons ideas: They are actually really useful! Lasers have very long range and one of shortest reload times, while Rail guns can penetrate targets and have big splash range/damage, which can be really useful in crowded battles. Unfortunately, rare games last long enough to get to that tech. :|

For door i thought that it can be in Warzone style and that there are usable in Warzone 2100 and in Warzone 2100 multiplayer without having a mod!

I like how you have put a LOT of thought into your ideas. Very impressive :)

It's just my opinion, but I think it would be better if you had posted each idea separately as separate threads.

Now coming to your ideas, I like the one with Entrance Gates. I have always had a feeling that something was missing while creating a solid defense to my bases. Looks like you hit the jackpot. I hope coding isn't too hard to implement this. The real question now is what sort of mechanism should the opening and closing look like? The options I can think of are,

i) Sliding gates

iii) Rising from the ground (Conceptually similar to hydraulic road blocks, but should look much more futuristic and sensible to the game)

iv) Your suggestions are welcome :)

But great care has to be taken on how, when and what triggers them to open and close. If your gates open when your own unit touches it, then an accidental touch by your own units during an enemy attack could render the whole point useless. And barring enemy units (by programming) from passing gates which were opened when friendly units were passing through would not look realistic and simply awkward.

As for the other ideas regarding Cyborg transport, I can't comment since I haven't played enough with cyborgs to be eligible to comment. :)

Oh, and I just love Rail/Needle/Laser weapons, they are awesome, in my opinion :wink:

I think that doors should open and close like in CnC Tiberian Sun and maybe there should be stage four gates,with force field.
That would be cool. Entrance gates should have defensive turrets...

That would require lots of work and it would be too complicated. Just build fortresses next to those gates...

That strategy wouldt save a soul...
Force field doors are posible, for ordinary door...well...except doors go down,they could go up...
Also there should be doors with defence...because hardpoints and strongpoints are weaker then doors,so entrance gates should have defences... atleast 50.cal machine gun at stage 1.

Add in few sensor towers and some arty in the back, and it will be perfect!

You don't get all that tech in early game, but still you can build low tech defenses, which that can handle low tech attacks that appear then.

Everything is possible!!! But it is hard to do! Why aren't you happy with this? It works perfect :annoyed:

Well its weird that pumpkin studios dint make entrance gates, they could a simple one!
The doors just go up for two or three meters.Even in medival ages they had entrance doors with towers and catapults!

They made the original game. That is lots of work. Don't do that.
Yes, in medieveal ages! Today's technology removes need for that.

I see your point on defenses for entrance gates, however it is better if the player is involved in designing the appropriate defense, because every player has his own unique style of defense.

Force Fields for gates seems reasonable, but then there should be a balance in the level of penetrability. It shouldn't be made too difficult to penetrate or too easy either. As an example, your enemy shouldn't be made invincible with force field protected gates. Besides, gates are essentially just a doorway in the wall. Force fields come in play as a defensive concept with hardpoints and turrets in my humble opinion.

However force fields could be a cool new technology branch, I think you have got something there but you need to shape it into something more refined :)

Stage 1 - Defense:50.cal machinegun HealthPoints:1000 Vertical Opening & Closing

Stage 2 - Defense:Medium Cannon HealthPoints:3000 Vertical Opening & Closing

Stage 3 - Defense:Heavy Cannon HealthPoints:4500 Horizontal Opening & Closing(Both Doors)

Stage 4 - Defense:ScourgeMissile HealthPoints:7000 Vertical(Sec. Door) & Horizontal(Main Door) Opening & Closing

Stage 5 - Defense:Plasma Cannon HealthPoints:10000 Force Field Activating & Deactivating
