To my excitement! Warzone 2100 was on that list! OMG! Warzome 2100 is finally supported officially by Xfire!

This really is good news, it will help to broaden the awareness of out beloved little RTS. Propz to everyone who posted on the Xfire forums and emailed the staff, which also includes me, http://www.xfire.com/forums/182627/topic/1249884/ :)
Anywayz, guys, it has all payed off, Warzone 2100 is now an officially supported game by Xfire.

For those who don't know, Xfire is a small, light weight app that is for gamers. It offers a ton of features, such as talking to other xfire friends while in-game by use of text or voice, it allows for broadcasting gameplay to the net for people to watch, you can record videos, take pics and upload them to your profile, along with lots more. I recommend that everyone downloads a copy, even if you aren't a hardcore gamer.

Basically they just put that old unofficial script - officially, has added game in list. & As I saw that xfire supports only original game v1.10. However if there is no direct support - its possible to add current 2.3.

Would be nice if they add staff like in gamespy so you can craet rooms & so on, so may be ppls come back to old 1.10

As I understand they support 1.10 Because xfire looking for warzone.exe (not warzone2100.exe), but As I said they just put game in list. Xfire Integration - equal to Zip.(find warzone in list & compare to other games in there)

I haven't installed WZ since I switched to Windows 7 in January. I am afraid to because i've been busy with crap like College so I can't afford to have WZ taking over my life again right now (ya, i'm bad with time management) Because of that, I wasn't able to check if it supports WZ Resurrection or just the original WZ. Either way, I just hope it won't be much of a problem to address.
I just spoke to someone I see playing it on Xfire, they are using WZ Resurrection, but the problem is, Xfire checks for the exe name "warzone.exe" while WZ Resurrection uses "warzone2100.exe" (again, correct me if i'm mistaken, since I don't have the game currently installed) Also, xfire links to this site as the official homepage.

Some games such as CoD, have other games under that category, so, as an example, Call of Duty is one game, but United Offence expansion is categorized under Call of Duty, so maybe they could do the same for Warzone, and have the original and Resurrection in the same Warzone 2100 category. Or just change the executable for Resurrection.
And yeah, I know someone already made the code for it to work in Xfire, so the guys probably used it as well, but never the less, the important thing is, the support is there, and I think Xfire is a really good tool and method of making Warzone more popular and aware to the public.

Where can people complain about supporting the wrong version of the game?
and it ends here.

lol not sure a complaint is what's necessary, after all, it did take years before it was supported. How about changing the exe in the next release? Two people on xfire rename the exe and there hasn't been any problems so far. So, is it feasible to just change the exe for WZ Resurrection to "warzone.exe"? :|
Also can a Mod add "bu Xfire" to the topic of this thread?

Just tested it and if your on windows and change the exe to just warzone.exe instead of warzone2100.exe and then manually select it in the options/games it seems to work.

We don't want to confuse it with the original game though...

And added "by Xfire", instead of "bu Xfire" ... hope you don't mind --unless 'bu Xfire' was correct? ;)
and it ends here.

I understand that, but it would allow WZ Res to work without changing anything. Also, when it's installed, are the registry entries the same as from the original game? Because Xfire detects games from the registry, instead of searching the whole drive.

Sweet, you fixed the thread title. And yes, I meant to say "by Xfire" lol thanks for the correction. They don't call you Buginator for nothing ;)

As WZP don't use win registry, so Its obvious that xfire wants to find 1.10 original.

Yeah? I didn't know that... so if it doesn't have any registry entries, how else will xfire automatically find the game!? :|

I said that WZP dont use registry (means 2.x.x versions like current one). On other hand - old official 1.10 - It does use registry !(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pumpkin Studios\Warzone2100) So xfire looking for these entries.

Yes, I got what you said, but I was referring to the WZP when I was asking how will xfire detect it, if there aren't any registry entries for it! It will have to use it in the next version :| I do not think just checking for the running process is enough, since xfire could argue tat another game could have the same exe.
Is it because WZP is cross platform or because it doesn't use patches for newer versions why it doesn't use the registry?
