Game crashing - Handler 1400 error

Post by Oblivian323 »

First of all, thanks you guys for continuing this game, I've been frequenting this place often over the years just never had made an account.

Anyways, i downloaded the new version, 2.3.0 and after about 5-7 min of play time the game will crash, no idea why just returns me to my home desktop screen. (I'm using windows XP) Every once in a while, when the game crashes it will display a warning
Exception handler failed with error 1400, Invalid window handle
. Any help would be sweet, if you need i can post up system specs. But no idea what this is.

Hmm, can you zip up everything in My Documents/Warzone 2100 2.3/logs/ and attach it here?

Right after it says value is too big, the file just changes those numbers only slightly as you can tell by the few examples, but theres a good 350 kb of just a wall of text with the same things all ending with the bottom thing. Exception handler failed etc.

If you have Windows XP or newer, Windows comes with zip file support: select the files you want to zip up, right-click, and go to Send to -> Compressed (Zipped) folder.

What kind of a machine are you running? What sound card? Is this XP SP3?
Your crashing with openAL. Reinstall it from the installer.
and it ends here.

Windows XP SP3 home eddition. Sound card is a built in sound card on my Mobo, which is ancient. Its not a dell or anything, all self built.

Can you explain OpenAL, other than it being a sound program? should i just reinstall the whole game?

Michal, your crashing on your video drivers. Try different versions.

What OS you have Michal, and was service pack ?
and it ends here.

Ok, i downloaded and tried to install openAL and everything went smoothly until it actually started to run the installer, it gave me a message stating that "Some openAL files were in use -- a reboot will be required to complete installation". So i click ok and wait...and wait... and wait. Until i restart my computer and try to run the pogram again and run the program and the same thing pops up yet i haven't been running it. I then repeat the test but completely remove Warzone and the same thing still happens.

Any ideas?

Sure, find out what sound program is using openAL, and stop it. Nothing should be using sound, so it can fix the file.

If still no luck, I would boot into safe mode, and then run the installer. That should fix it.
and it ends here.

It's not 'my' problem, its 'Handler 1400 error', just as the topic title says. Any logs are usually welcomed when fixing bugs.
Feel free to be offended though.
