i've seen the texture resolution in the video control and i'm scared to make it more than 128mb, but i still want to try the 1024 one . my system is C2D T6500, 2.5gb ram, ATi HD 4330 (512MB) and it's a notebook

It will handle 1024 (or 2048, if we still have that) by 1024 textures with ease.
The texture resolution refers to the size of the textures as opposed to how much memory they consume. 128 means that the textures are 128 by 128 pixels each, 1024 means 1024 by 1024 pixels each and so on.
