Do the AI's cheat too much?

Post by icefire »

Guess I want to figure out peoples opinions on this subject, for one reason or another.

This picture sure seems to imply they do.
(look at Red and Blue's units)
They were maxxed so I guess it's a given, but this really does seem like a bit much.

Thoughts anyone?

I think that if you max them out, you should be prepared to fight against it... Just that.

That's why there is a slider, for setting it suiting to your capacities...

It is of general consensus that the original skirmish AI isn't made tougher or easier on the right paths. Instead of developing crushing strategies or micromanaging everything in an impeccable way, it cheats - and cheats very much.

But, the question is, who's gonna improve the AI, and what are the best improvements? DylanDog is already making and excellent job with his AI, as it proves to be tougher in less frustrating ways than the standard AI.

Anyway, I agree, while the easiest AI is completely lame, taking large ammounts of time to make anything, the most difficult AI simply "cheats" - their research speed (and power gain rate, methinks) is well over the standard (there are multipliers for that, yeah, I'm just lazy to search for them, but you can find if you do so) - but is still dumb :P

The best games are always will all-human players, still :hmm:
