Hi,
i have a idea for a easier and faster Multiplayer game.
If you play online you have already contact to the internet. So you can write a Chat message in the normal way. For example: "Go to the right egde" but now you can it write in you nativ languarge and you translate it into the gamers languarge. You can use Google for this reason like this http://code.google.com/intl/de-DE/apis/ajaxlanguage/
I hope its not a bad idea.
Thanks

The first problem with this, is that Warzone 2100 is a game, not a website. Google's Ajax language API only works for websites.WZGamer wrote:You can use Google for this reason like this http://code.google.com/intl/de-DE/apis/ajaxlanguage/
The second problem with this, is that Google translate, although fairly good, is still not good enough for general usage.
The third problem with this, is that it's a ton of work for very little benefit.

Well, even in websites, from 65% to 80% of the sites are in english.
English is very easy to learn, and most games have many names derived from english language - it is easily understandable, even if the user can't write or speak english properly.
And learning a language so widespread as english is far from a bad thing

I saw a similar translation system working on some game, but I cannot remember now which was it.Zarel wrote:The first problem with this, is that Warzone 2100 is a game, not a website. I agree with the second and third problem explanations.

As far as i know, Stardict has a build-in google translate client. Maybe it can be ported into warzone as well?

I agree, English language rule in the world, even in the world of games
I think there is no time to use translators during the game..
I have learned many times that even seconds are crucial during the game..
