Lateral Weapons
Lateral Weapons
Is possible to include in the game the option of put in tanks or VTOL lateral weapons for major estrategy?
Re: Lateral Weapons
Lateral weapons = weapons that can fire only at a limited angle, like battleships?warzonero wrote:Is possible to include in the game the option of put in tanks or VTOL lateral weapons for major estrategy?
If that's it, I think it can be implemented, but it's kinda hard but has already been taken into consideration for sure.

Re: Lateral Weapons
I've read that HPV cannons now can shoot at VTOLs. Limitting the angle at which weapons can shoot upwards sound like a good way to model the capability of generic weapons to shoot at aircraft.
You can't just point a tank gun straight up into the air to shoot at aircraft. However if the aircraft are flainf low and at the right distance or the weapons are placed on a mountain the chances are better.

You sure this is on the right topic? To me it seems like it was supposed to be in this one.PkK wrote:I've read that HPV cannons now can shoot at VTOLs. Limitting the angle at which weapons can shoot upwards sound like a good way to model the capability of generic weapons to shoot at aircraft.

Re: Lateral Weapons
We already do angle restriction. In fact, the "TK sometimes can't shoot" bug was caused by too much angle restriction.PkK wrote:I've read that HPV cannons now can shoot at VTOLs. The HPV in particular has more angle restriction than most AA or V weapons.
Re: Lateral Weapons
i dont mean angles... i only say the capability of to put more than one weapon in the tank, to put 2 diferent weapons more in the tank at the same time... in this chase situated in the laterals of the vehicle...
Re: Lateral Weapons
and what about the purpose of the atomic bomb? nobody read it?
Re: Lateral Weapons
I don't understand what you're saying.warzonero wrote:i dont mean angles... i only say the capability of to put more than one weapon in the tank, to put 2 diferent weapons more in the tank at the same time... in this chase situated in the laterals of the vehicle...

Re: Lateral Weapons
I say to put the capability to the game of to can put more than 1 diferent weapon at 1 tank: 1 central weapon and 2 diferent weapons at the laterals zones of the vehicle...but without angles..
Re: Lateral Weapons
And why would we do that?
Re: Lateral Weapons
You mean secondary weapons? What do you mean by "lateral zones"? We can imagine turrets in the lateral parts or fixed weapons that can only fire within an area limited to one of the sides of the vehicle, those both could be considered "lateral".warzonero wrote:I say to put the capability to the game of to can put more than 1 diferent weapon at 1 tank: 1 central weapon and 2 diferent weapons at the laterals zones of the vehicle...but without angles..
But why did you post about atomic bombs here if there's a specific topic about that with a (very clear to me) no-go?
Anyway, here's a link that suggests secondary weapons, you might be interested in taking a look at it:

Re: Lateral Weapons
In particular, a weapon restricted to an angle other than forward would be very frustrating for a player to use, since it would require fine-grained control of a vehicle facing angle to shoot at optimum efficiency.
Re: Lateral Weapons
Complementing - Vehicle movement calculations in Warzone are extremely INfamous for doing stupid maneuvers in the most unnapropriate times. And even if we had a good movement system, it'd be too much micro-manegement to make the units turn so that their lateral weapons aren't a waste of power, speed and production time.Zarel wrote:In particular, a weapon restricted to an angle other than forward would be very frustrating for a player to use, since it would require fine-grained control of a vehicle facing angle to shoot at optimum efficiency.
Locked forward of free-rotating like standard turrets, unless it's artillery (for obvious reasons), are best options, IMO.

Re: Lateral Weapons
I think the only really truely useful reason for having two turrets would be one heavy cannon and a heavy machine gun. Like actual tanks do. Or side rockets or something.
Re: Lateral Weapons
And lasers. And AA weapons. And assault guns. And grenade launchers. Those all would be useful, IMO, and I think it would be a nice option to have heavier units with those (perhaps even allow systems turrets like commanders to have those light weapons installed) instead of having to research all the way to dragon until you can have a multi-purpose unit.dmkp wrote:I think the only really truely useful reason for having two turrets would be one heavy cannon and a heavy machine gun. Those would be especially nice for patrols, I think.
