Flying trucks
I have two ideas for mods in the game.
One is the ability to manufacture a vtol truck. This way you could make towers and such on the higher elevations in the game as the computer has.
The other would be a biped or quadraped propulsion unit. (Walking)

I tried adding a helicopter-like truck during a test,it worked but it will become the lamest unit in wz,since wz's winning condition is 'destroy all units and buildings'...Aranor wrote: I have two ideas for mods in the game.

tasks postponed until the trunk is relatively stable again.

Hrm...
If I recall correctly, Cyborgs can build, and can be air-lifted to various placed. If you need to build remotely, that might work for ya.

Re: Flying trucks
I will have to try that.
I do not think the vtol trucks would be lame at all. The speed of the vtol is greater than the hover. Since the vtols can land to reload or just stop they could build high and low. Their armor would be weak but the speed to get some place would be covenient.

I think this would just be lame.

Re: Flying trucks
BTW Aranor, I think the overall chants of "lame" is because, by using flying trucks to build up high, you are basically:
1) Making structures that are immune to most ground units
2) Making a unit that can avoid destruction with much ease, allowing for excessive drawing-out of already over games.
The reason Cyborgs can partially do it is because to get both Cyborg Engineers and Cyborg Transports, you have to go substantially far into the trees, meaning that your opponents would at least be able to have some airborne solution to "unreachable" buildings; whereas a hovertruck, I'm assuming, would have all the necessary research right after developing VTOL, and could theoretically be rushed in under 10 minutes.

Re: Flying trucks
Currently I am playing through the game again and am at the field where I am trying to research the activation codes for the nuclear missile silos. The level before that, protecting the silos, there were many anti aircraft bunkers on the moutains at eh edge of the maps. This would be my basis for wanting the vtol trucks. To put my own bunkers where the computer had them placed. As far as being almost impervious to ground attacks, so were the computers. My thinking is for more protection for my own HQ. Not flying out building a tower so someone else will be blown away when they leave their HQ. Besides, I could picture the vtol truck being very fragile so performing the latter would be at great risk to the unit anyway.

Oh. I wasn't aware that this was a campaign based question.
For the Singleplayer campagin, the reason the developers put buildings in crazy areas was to increase the challenge of the stages. By allowing the player to take the spots, many of the "hard" stages at the end of the game would become trivial. Note that once the buildings are destroyed, the CPU cannot rebuild them either.

Re: Flying trucks
and thank the gods for that. most of my attacks consisted of minipod heavy tanks, which was all i could afford. every time i met with an enemy armor group i got wiped out, and usually ever time i leave their base to try to escape i meet an armor group (where are they coming from !!!!!)

Re: Flying trucks
I just hate "a vtol truck"...as for me its just bad idea. this unit just disbalance a wz already not so good "economic".
Its like in unoff. 1.11 & above versions > there was units like that & in MP game if player almost lose he begining to fly around whole map & build base...its very nervous for winning "side".

Re: Flying trucks
On the positive side about VTOL Trucks or "flying trucks" is that they don't get stuck.
On several occasions, while building with wheeled or hovered trucks, one gets stuck by being in the wrong spot at the wrong time, I've played a mod before that had flying trucks and granted they did the same, but they just flew up and were safe.
Is it just me on that, or has it happened to others?

A topic that has seen no action in the best part of a year is definitely not the place for a covert bug report.NightFire wrote: On the positive side about VTOL Trucks or "flying trucks" is that they don't get stuck.

(However it is a known problem.)
