Multi-turrets?

Post by Zarel »

The current situation of having only Dragon have multi-turrets is to solve the balance problem. My recent bug fixes have solved the bugs relating to multi-turret behavior. However, there's one other reason why we removed multi-turret bodies, and that's because they look a bit weird with some turret combinations.

Now, personally, I think they look fine, especially at normal zoom... And I'd rather have multi-turrets that might sometimes look bad, than no multi-turrets at all... And if you care about how it looks, it's always possible to only choose combinations that look good... ;)

(By the way, if you don't use multi-turret bodies, but you don't mind if others use them, feel free to vote yes. ;) )

Relatedly, we'd greatly appreciate if someone were to make a body that supports two turrets. Putting the primary turret mount higher would be a good idea, but keep in mind the body might not have a second turret, so it should look good without it, too.

(Yes = only dragon body, No = not any body)

Yes, Dragon is the large red body: Image

If I were to go strictly by the designe, no, but I'm sure that one has the possibility to use it. We could use also 3 turrets on a body, but that it would look funny.
The look is not everything, but the important thing is what comes out at the end here. Clearly then are the real fortresses, but they need to be able to finance First of build.

I'm against multi-turrets, but anyways if it would be only on Dragon body I dont mind, because In my gameing experience I had only few games where I could reach a dragon body. And its too slow I think, with two turrets would be mega-slow.

P.s.: Dont know what for to vote ? 2.2 - means no multi turrent at all ? and 2.3 only dragon body I guess. Add more discriptions plz

I voted for yes, but if one super heavy body will be special, then other one, Wyverne, should be special by something else.
Maybe that it has really huge engine?

Maybe the whole back area of the body could be raised up some, and the front (between the turrets) could step down slightly. There would still be cases when turrets fire at 180 degrees, but that should be rare.

Or maybe just make 2nd turret 'indirect fire only'. This way dragon can have its own fire support. AA turret could also be nice (I haven't seen them on tanks in multiplayer, really...)

I tried dragon with assault gun and seraph array in the back. Really nice attack formation - starts with flashy seraph fire, and then that cool sound of assault gun ripping everything apart :).

I know the dragon is the only multi-turret body for human players but how come sometimes I will see the AI with a multi-turret body I think the most recent one was a double heavy cannon on a cobra body half-tracks. It is interesting to me since on some maps I never see this happening and on others it fairly frequently occurs. The last map I saw it on was nf4v4. If you want I can take screen-shot next time.

That is really odd. Does it happen on any of the official maps? Screenshots would be nice.

This occurred in several butt whuppings 3 other players and I received on map named 8c-BigCraterTsT8.

If others are interested in a really tough game, try 3 humans versus 4 Max AIs on this map in T1 in Beta 9. Good Luck!
