Sensor display - z key

Post by Mabuse »

I'm wondering what the 'z' key is doing... or what it 'should' do?
Can someone explain it to me (currently i'm playing 2.3 beta 9)? As I read the Ticket #1289 it is doing nothing any more?
I can't figure out any difference when pressing (or holding) 'z' (or even 'y' on my german keyboard).

This question comes up, as I am looking for a function how to check a sensors or artillery bunkers range.

As long as there is no Satellite Uplink Centre, I can see the fog of war on my minimap and this way checking my sensors on the map, but after building the SUC, there is no more fog of war, so I have to guess if a certain position is monitored by a sensor or not. Okay, at this point in skirmish games normally i am able to build sensor towers every two tiles, but I don't want this "Big-Brother" option :D

The second thing is, I would like to know the firing range especially for my artilly emplacements or mortar pits.
It would be nice to find a little circle on the minimap, which shows me the sensor or attack range of an emplacement or pit when selecting something on the map, so I could check its range. Or at least a coloured circle when placing a new building which shows me its range.

And as a perfect solution I would think, there should be the possibility to see the effective range of an artillery-weapon, by combining its maximum range less the not-sensor-covered places on the map...
No more chance for AI's fortress :ninja: :)

Someone has GOT to document all of the key shortcuts.

I cant find any reference to some like alt+x (finishes current reserch) that I discovered by randomly trying keys.
In general, if you see glowing, pulsating things in the game, you should click on them.

You can look through the keyboard configuration in the options, that lists almost all shortcuts (afaics only alt-return to switch fullscreen mode on Linux is missing).

Oh, it's a cheat code. No, then it won't appear in that menu. You can see all the keys in the source: http://developer.wz2100.net/browser/bra ... map.c#L294 (and that says it's ctrl-x).
