while i was playing beta 8.

noticed a few things.. and was hit by a few ideas.
potential bugs?

• the gradient spoken about in the beta 8 change log for the research graphics.. wasent on my screen.. no gradient.. anywhere.

• the HP of buildings while they are being built.. are no longer visible.. the health bar just shows as all black.

• "building under attack PING" needs to last a lil bit longer.. and only had about a 50% ratio of the ping actually showing at all.

• AI is building at times an excessive amount of repair cyborgs.

----------------------- ideas from game play.

• add a green colored ping for when construction is complete. As some of use have really advanced build Ques on multiple foreward bases.. nice to know what is done where at a glance.. especially the larger maps. And change the control H ping to something other then red so it wont be mistaken for they are being attacked ping.

• Im still for the heavy laser hardpoints now they are FINALLY of use.. but this sadly still leaves the flashlight and the plasma in the cold...
flashlights are great VS infantry.. and cold really be handy vs borgs late game.. and could be a very viable upgrade from the rotery MG bunker.. mg bunker.. rotary bunker.. flashlight bunker.
Plasmas are a bit trickier... increase thier range a bit.. and give them a continual fire effect.. many lasers fired to overlap to where it appears to be a continual stream.. same as the game handles smoke for the missiles and the artillery.. obviously each bullet hit will have to be insanely small.. 1 point of damage at most if even that high... and plasma is known to be super heated.. so some residual fire damage and burning not as AOE.. but point of impact would also help to make the weapon true to its name.. and make it unique and stand out. because as is.. lets face it.. plasma is useless.

• raise the camera ceiling for zooming out a bit if at all possible.
mayhaps the games draw distance for when the cam is at ground level?

It was for building, not research. And it's kind of broken in beta 8, but it's been fixed for the next beta.

It corresponds with when you hear "structure under attack" on the sound system. I think it currently lasts for 4 seconds? I can increase it to 6 seconds, but no more.

Erm, well, they have similar enough meanings. You should be able to tell which one's which by seeing how long it lasts. Would you rather I make it green? Then it would conflict with construction completed, and artifacts.

If you think plasma cannon is useless, you clearly aren't using it correctly. S'all I'm saying.

The ceiling's already a lot higher than it was originally. How much higher do you want it? :/

Perhaps a yellow/amber? But then we'd need a whole new addition to texpages... :/

not much higher.. but some.. and no.. not orbital.. my main complaint would be the draw distance though.. the chase to increase that in the graphics men would really make things alot nicer in chase views for those with decent compies.

plasma cannon.. i have NEVER found use for.. its got horribly short range.. not much longer then flamers.. which i have also never found use for instalation wise.. except for insanely bottlenecked maps like miza maze.. and even on that map with the popular travel routes.. its still too open for decent use of such short range bunkers.. and such small areas dont allow for enough them to be placed to hold off any decent attacking force.

not when even lancers and rockets can just sit out of range and peck it to death.

as for the pings.. just saying it would be nice to have something a different color for the H thing.. and something a 3rd color to point out where construction is done.
tell a teammate to cover X spot.. and they have 2 pings.. it just as the chance to cause confusion.
