A speaking community

Post by Dylan Hsu »

I believe that this community would benefit from the addition of an official voice server of some sort. Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, or something else with free-to-download client software would most likely act as the protocol. I would not be opposed to funding this out of pocket; however, I need an honest community response as to whether you, yes, you, would download the client software the community decides on and participate on a voice server.

(For those who don't know, it's a chatroom, and you converse with others over microphone/headset. It works ingame and teams can split into channels to coordinate strategy and have a good time.)

It's an alright idea, Dylan, but there is one problem. Our community is small. Tiny. And I bet an even tinier portion of these have headsets. So it may not be used very often.
Bring back...ducks!

I am shared on this one.

But it would be cool if AI would speak to you:
Robotic voice wrote:I am WZ2100 AI ver. 5.6.b7. I will destroy you.
That would be really really creepy...

Well the AI do respond in saying Cyan is in need of an assist. Red needs support. This is what I hear if they are on your team. Also when you set waypoints I get responses like Cyan commencing attack run. I don't know if I'm special on being able to hear all these or if the options where part of beta.

Edit: I have a few friends that play WZ2100 that have headsets we usually form teams of 4 and go at each other. At least most people I added had Xfire. Which is another form for Voice chat specifically designed for gamers.
