How do I restart a mission?

Post by meathook911 »

Well, that's my problem. I saved on a mission (4 or 5, one with a time limit). And I want to start over.

Thanks!

Well, actually, I don't know if it is possibly... But I saved the game like 5 minutes before the time goes to zero, and it's impossible to win the mission...

You cannot restart level unless you saved your game at begin of it.
There have been requests for restart option, but that is usually responded with something like:
It isn't so simple.

Since the three campaign stages are basically three large levels you have to save after each mission to be able to restart it. How can the game know what buildings/units... you had after a mission? It all depends on what you did before.

Maybe we could implement some kind of autosave instead (or in addition to the manual save), so a special savegame is created at the "save/continue" screen that always saves the state at the start of the latest mission.

This would be the best solution. IMHO :ninja:

I thought of that, but the issue with that is, we would need a new load screen for those saves, otherwise, the game would use up all the slots.
and it ends here.

How's about we keep a single autosave, for the beginning of the most recent level?

That is how it is done in most of games.
This would look good:

Code: Select all

S A V E G A M E
<1_big_autosave_slot>
<3_small_user_savegame_slots>
<3_small_user_savegame_slots>
<3_small_user_savegame_slots>
...

I've implemented this for the version after beta7. At the save/continue screen, it saves automatically to a game called "Autosave".

How would an autosave for skirmish work? Autosaves are only saved at the beginnings of missions - for skirmish, there's only one mission, so where would you save? o_O

As skirmish starts,game can autosave the current mission as it is so when you want to restart you just load it again and your at the start again,simple.I do it always,just hate doing it manually.

Erm, how is that any easier than just going back to the main menu and clicking "Start Skirmish Game" -> "Start Hosting" -> "Ready"? o_O The game remembers your settings, you know.
