Since I am new to this game, I have been wondering what the best research order is. Does anyone feel strongly one way or another?
Thanks!

Re: Usual Research Pattern
It depends.
It is best to first research Machinegun, to have basic weapon, then Engineering.
Then, you should research Cyborg Factory, Hardcrete, Fuel Injection Engine, Half-tracked Propulsion.
Then you have developed basic things.
Now you should research upgrades for weapons and new weapons, then their defensive structure versions to be able to defend your base. You should builld more research facilities.
I have them like this:
1 reserved for research speed upgrades
2 reserved for new sensors, system turrets, bodies, propulsions, base structures...
2 are reserved for weapons and defenses research. If other 3 have nothing to research in their area, make them research weapons and defenses.
That is how I do it.
Ask more expirienced players.

Thanks. I usually go straight to the VTOL propulsion. That works quite well against very weak AI enemies, but not in multiplayer. Does anyone else have an opening research strategy?

Re: Usual Research Pattern
well, I normally go straight to power module, and then mortars, to make some basic defence, them medium body with MRA, and then long range weapons, when I feel that enemy is really strong then huge amount of heavy gunners are always useful.
