Hi, I originally bought this game when I was 13 for my Playstaion. I remember enjoying it greatly and playing for many years. I found it in an old box recently, and got nostalgic. I then remember seeing online at some point that the game had a PC counterpart, so I decided to check it out online. Turns out, there is, and it is still in development! So, thanks to the nice wikipedia article, I found this nice website and downloaded the game. However, the installer has me confused... For new users such as myself, when I see "NTW MOD" and "AIEVOLUTION" and "Original 1.10 Balance" my head got filled with a million questions.
1) If I select any of these options, will any of them automatically begin functioning by default when I load the program, or will it be as if I had just unticked all 3 boxes?
2) The "Original 1.10 Balance" option has me confused. Is this a mod I have to activate, as in, the current 2.2.4 version has new balances itself?
3) Does anyone actually use these mods? If I want to play multiplayer/campaign/skirmish will it affect me?
Your FAQs and guides are very nice and thorough, but I have been strained to find any information on these options. I thought it might be a good idea to include some of this information in the download section maybe for NEW NEW NEW users like myself.
Thanks!

Re: New user help
hi there,
1) mods are installed but not loaded by default...its the shortcut you use that dictates whether the game is running an installed mod
2) as the game has developed things have been changed by this community to make what we feel is a more balanced and playable game...1.10 was iirc the last official version of the retail PC verision before it became open source (free for brain boxes to make better)
3) these mods are used on occasion, but you can only play a game with other members using the same mod...
in the wz directory there are 3 mod sections, single multi and global. some can be used in all 3 some will only work in multi play e.t.c
i highly reccomend running the game unmodded (or maybe with grims graphic mod), untill you get used to it..its a very different beast to the old playstation version

Nope. These options just give you extra options for loading the program in the Start menu. The default "Warzone 2100" button will load the game with none of the extra mods.Talrivian wrote:1) If I select any of these options, will any of them automatically begin functioning by default when I load the program, or will it be as if I had just unticked all 3 boxes?
Yes, it's a mod you have to activate. Most versions have new balances (which is why the mod is called "original 1.10" and not "original 1.00". The period after 1.10 was released, there was a very long time without no new balancing, so many players got used to that one and don't want to learn anything new/better.) Most of those players are gone now, so I'd recommend you stay away from this mod.Talrivian wrote:2) The "Original 1.10 Balance" option has me confused. I believe the mods you speak of are Aivolution, NTW, and 1.10 Balance. No one plays Aivolution anymore; anyone who wants a better AI for skirmish uses BecomePrey. NTW and 1.10 are poorly balanced, and I haven't seen anyone playing them in multiplayer. All of these are MP/skirmish mods; they won't affect campaign at all.Talrivian wrote:3) Does anyone actually use these mods? If I want to play multiplayer/campaign/skirmish will it affect me?
Yeah, I'll see if I can do something about that.Talrivian wrote:Your FAQs and guides are very nice and thorough, but I have been strained to find any information on these options.
