possible bug

Post by Bethrezen »

hi all

I have noticed something else which I believe may be a possible bug I normally have my factories set all created units to retreat at heavy damage however I notice that a lot of the time the units come out of the factory set on do or die despite my setting the factory to retreat at heavy damage

also I have noticed that units wont stay set on retreat at heavy damage and will often default back to do or die despite me click on on them and setting them to retreat at heavy damage I find this to be extremely irritating as it often costs me experienced units because they don't retreat like there supposed to

one other irritation I have noticed is that I often have units subdivided in to different groups so for example I have my AA units set to group 2 however when one of these units retreats for repair it de-groups its self is it suppose to do that or is this another bug ?

This is not a bug - they act like this so you don't select the retreating units accidentally when you are controlling multiple groups on a battle.
Example: When you select a group, order to attack, one unit is badly damaged and starts to retreat; you issue a VTOL strike move, selecting VTOLs from a group; then you select the attack group you were controlling before and order them to attack another target. If the retreating units were still on the group, they would return to the attack order - and that would be more annoying than having to reassign groups later.

I'm pretty much sure this ungrouping feature is there to avoid this kind of problem.
Not sure about the other problem you've descripted before, though.

This must be moved to Help / Troubleshooting, where it should be, as it is a bug reporting attempt.

Well is there anyway to make standard groups work like commanders, having them finish their repair and/or reload while remaining in their group? I don't think that would defeat the purpose of commanders. Especially with VTOLs where there is NO commander equivalent anyway.
