Commanders: who actually uses them??
Commanders: who actually uses them??
Trying to use these things in campaign, (mainly to accrue experience for no apparent reason). Absolutely despise them, because although they may bring enhancements to unit strength, but they are an absolute nightmare to control.
Units already have this tendency to get stuck and that annoying need to go forward first before retreating. The commander just gets in the way, and because you can't control individual assigned units, positioning becomes impossible as well.
Not sure why Pumpkins made such a big point of them. Does anyone have some remote use for them??

Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
I didn't use them at all until last week. I tryed.....and I like the whole idea of Commanders, but cause of many bugs & bad balance of the game makes them useless. I hope in warzone's future they will be developed better then right now.
I think Commanders just should be reworked properly.

Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
Once you learn the finer points of unit control, the bonus to strength and auto-return of repair and production turn out quite useful.
Specifically, to counter the "wanting to rush in front" problem commanders have, be sure to always have them "attack" their target from far away. Since their "range" is so much farther than any other weapon, they will end up stopping well outside of enemy range, and the rest of the battalion will take their proper positions.

Once you get used to using them I found they are very useful for having around. I like having them to help with co-ordination for my units and i enjoy the bonuses they offer.

Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
Other then a delivery point i dont see any usefulness for them.Unless they will give good bonuses.

Meh I guess they're ok for automatic defence. Still think it's worthless when attacking any kind of fortification, and make hit and run impossible to coordinate properly.

Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
just you send a moderately experienced commander to attack an enemy base when you have support fire enabled & artillery emplacements in range to hit what the commander is shootingicyflames wrote:Meh I guess they're ok for automatic defence. defences? pah! flaming holes in the ground they'd be.

But what about in my case, where I send full ranked commanders I have had since Alpha 6 to attack?

The easy way around this is, don't use them for Hit 'N run. leave that to unattached brigades, and use the commander for the heavy attacks.
Hit 'N run is mostly a MP strat anyway, and commanders in MP are much worse off than they are in Campaign.
Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
so you can assign them to artillery for exp bonuses?
Speak softly, and carry a pair of lancers.
Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
The main problem with commanders is the assigning limit. You can only assign 6 units at first, and with every rank they go up you can assign 2 more.
But for most people, we need large attack squads fast, thus rendering the commander unused.

Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
One person suggested increasing the initial assign limit of Command Turret II-IV. That's a pretty good idea, but we never got around to implementing it. :/

In related news Zarel.... what was the current difference between turret I, II, III, and IV again?
Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
The hit points, I believe. It goes up 200 each time every "mark" is researched. So they become walls ‘o’ meat that can soak up lots ‘o’ damage.themousemaster wrote:In related news Zarel.... what was the current difference between turret I, II, III, and IV again?
useful for going head on against an artillery freak with ground units, or, generally against anything else,I suppose.
Re: Commanders: who actually uses them??
As ClockWork said. Nothing but HP.
