Why did this happen?

This guy had lasers and was wipping everyone out with 1 hit destruction. Got a screeny if that helps. You can see the guy with 20 times as points than everyone else and has a laser tank by his name

I could only get cannons at the best =[

it's not hard to change your name in the game though, as there is no authentication or anything like that.
people who cheat who wouldn't like to get 'caught' would probably change their name between matches, or possibly even use names from the forums (and would probably get away with it unless they use really high profile user names of active devs or veteran players)?

How do you cheat in multi-player? I know that you can cheat in campaign and skirmishes... but not in multi-player?

Yes you are probably right that you cannot tell who is cheating, maybe the programmers could get a system going so whenever a new name is created the first time the IP is recorded and maybe store a md5 hash on their computer for a random ID? Probably easier if the cheat was deleted? as "they are only used for programmers" and obviously cheaters

I have played a mab earlier and other nights too with the green badge but that could be someone else.
I don't think having the badge would determine anything as surely you can just change the name file stored in MyDocs/Warzone 2.2 to a different name or even copy and paste badges? Stuff should be at least encrypt a file like that/

Can the host cheat? Also how do you kick if you host too?

about cheating, there was a trainer program posted here in the forum a month or so ago, it was removed because it would be possible to cheat in multiplayer using that program.
I'm sure some people managed to snatch it before it was removed, and I'm also sure there are other places to download the program, as well as possibly other programs doing the same thing.
I think that linking the name to an IP would be too hard (though I don't really know, I know nothing of programming).
a hash for the computer might be easier, I don't know, but I guess the safest way would be to make sure noone else can use your name is to use a multiplayer lobby system similar to battle.net and anti-cheating stuff like punkbuster. I guess that would be extremely hard to create from scratch, and I don't know if there already exist any open source equivalents the game could possibly be linked to (probably a fair amount of work required to get that to work as well).

It could have been the trainer, or someone playing with the source. We will never know.
While we could log IPs, the problem with that is privacy...different places have different rules.

About the only thing we could do to limit this is change the network model, and that isn't exactly easy. Lots of code changes, and too few devs = it will take a long time to "fix".

The people i play with do know i would never use plasma btw.

And its not even written correct lol... i use Mabsterone capital letter in front.
And i use this nick ( and only this one ) since 1999.
And i use pink/purple colour always.. as long as its available

Suggestions for you:
A. If you fake my name pls do it correct and use the right colour too
B. Learn to play instead of cheating
C. Learn about weapons and dont cheat with any stuff that really sucks
D. Get off my land....lol ( hopefully it doesnt work here hehe )

P.S.: For anyone who wants to mess around with it...Mabster is my comapny and i have the legal rights for every written or picturerized use of that name worldwide, its copyrighted.
