Team-colored Buildings?

Post by Olrox »

Hello to everyone,
I'm making, as most of you should know, a Graphical mod to Warzone 2100, remaking all of the buildings for them to look more like buildings. One of the modifications I bet everyone, with no exception, would like, are team-colored buildings.
Currently, there are few ways of discovering which player owns a non-defensive building (I may refer to them as Facilities from now on). You have to either look at the minimap and pinpoint the building and deduct from the color displayed on the minimap, or you have to deduct from the color of the defensive buildings around the facility.
The most convenient and obvious solution for that would be making some parts of the building's texture team-colored.

I must therefore ask if there's a way of making masks for that purpose, like the ones proposed by Elio on this topic, or if I must fit all the colors into a single texture file.

Elio did a model for the HQ, with some turrets, even avatars on it, and teamcolors*. Wonder hiw he did it. I know he's still here, he was online yesterday :ninja:

Thanks to anyone who would be willing to help.

*edit: Don't know if that was team-colored, as there was only the green one. Sorry.

They're generally called base structures. ;)

I mean, sensor towers and the like get teamcolors, and they're not directly defensive. It's really only base structures that currently aren't teamcolored.

You could also just hover your mouse over them. If an HP bar comes up, it's yours. If the "attack" cursor appears, it's not. :P

But yeah, we all think teamcolors are a good idea.

Not yet. We want to eventually have masks, but that's long term; for now, you have to fit all the colors into a single texture file. Keep in mind you only have to make 8 copies of the colored parts. The non-colored parts can be whatever.
