Multiplayer question

Hello, why when I am in a multiplayer game (not skirmish) and try to use hotkeys such as - pressing the R key to return for repair or pressing the H key to return to HQ, it says this cheat is not avaible in multiplayer, these are not cheats! they help speed up the game, and I allways use them in Single Player Campaign, and skirmish. Were these changes made so as to slow down the game when online?
