Default maps: layout images?
I notice that for alot of custom maps, there are layout images showing the features of the map. These are immensely helpful when playing against an AI that magically knows where all the derricks, etc. are in advance. However, I can't find any for the default maps that come with the game and I can't seem to find the map files to open so as to make a layout image myself. If anyone can help that would be great.

). That's called A.I. "map omniscience" ('Star Craft' A.I. notoriously used that technique) and NO Warzone A.I. I know of makes use of that technique.
What is actually happening is that the A.I. is aggressively and fearlessly scouting the map from the get-go and thus "LEARNING".much faster than most timid players.
But if you want to open them up outside the game binary you have to convert to .LND files and open in 32EW - the Map Editor. You are better off just using the in-game "Map Preview" and taking a screen shot of it.

There is a "map preview" for any map before you enter it to play that you can readily screen capture.Dylan Hsu wrote:I notice that for alot of custom maps, there are layout images showing the features of the map.

And for those of you that have better gfx drivers (or hardware) it should show things like:
That shows where each player is at.

Re: Default maps: layout images?
While I was looking on differently colored map previews due to different gfx cards and recalling the 1.x version I've thought: why there is no color differentiation for tilesets in the map preview dialog? I guess it's handy to see the tileset before actually loading the map.

That's a good idea. I was planning on doing it eventually, but it looks like you got to it ahead of me.i-NoD wrote:While I was looking on differently colored map previews due to different gfx cards and recalling the 1.x version I've thought: why there is no color differentiation for tilesets in the map preview dialog? Do you have a patch? Feel free to upload/etc.

Re: Default maps: layout images?
Here it is... The thing is there is way to be 100% sure if tileset is determined correctly BEFORE the map is actually loaded, so i've poked around and found a more or less hacky method that's used in map toolsZarel wrote:Do you have a patch? Feel free to upload/etc.
